All green roads now. I’d still get the fuck out, especially with it coming in at 155, borderline CAT 5. This is going to be bad. Really bad. Let’s hope those new levies hold.

All the gas stations are empty. No mandatory New Orleans order. Mayor says it came so fast the didn't have time..

I wonder if there’s a storm strong enough to wash away Jim Cantore?

Nope, condo in a large metal building with a bunch of others. He bought it to run a charter business from. Boat dock and lift in the back. It was initially destroyed in Katrina and rebuilt. Four story.

A levy north of Venice was apparently breached an the road is closed. He is thinking about putting his boat in the water in Biloxi and running across to see if he can start dewatering the bottom floor. Oh yeah, and he may literally have two shrimp boats stuck in the docks.

Projecting no water or power to Venice for a month.

those look like some high end residences. Plywood ceiling? Views of the train cars....woof...those people are screwed..

They'll all "rebuild" though....and wait for the next disaster to fuck em up again. Maybe one day we will realize we can't build enough walls/levies/etc to keep mother nature back, and those people will just move.

That isn't Marc's unit. His is a little more upscale, LOL.

In that building there are $1,000,000 condo's, a few patch jobs to live in, and several that have never been rebuilt and are nothing but open floors that were stripped after Katrina.

Insurance on them is about $50k per year, so most never were rebuilt.

Maybe that part of the country should have some more stringent building codes? Say... something like this is the only thing allowed:

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.
