The start of Tumbling Dice is probably my favorite intro to a song ever, love how hard he hits the cymbal. He was incredible. The Stones were my band growing up. Love them so much. Wicked sad day.

Fuck.
Fuck. That’s terrible news. I wondered what was going on when he pulled out of the tour two weeks ago for a “procedure”
RIP Charlie, you had class, rhythm and taste.I still call it The Jake.

He did, didn't he. Charlie always made me laugh with his lazy/relaxed style of playing the drums. Super sad day for sure. Enjoy this one in his honor.

This decade is going to be a long funeral train of old rockers. Of course, Keith will outlive them all.
The world is perfect. Appreciate the details.

Played local pub and jazz bands at home just having fun.

WHOA is me! Arguably the best beat keeper of all time. Sorely missed. Glad I got to see him 4 or 5 times when he was in his prime.

Back in the day Charlie never got props as a drummer. Flashy drummers--Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell--were the style. So Charlie was sent off to Elvin Jones (John Coltrane's group) for some lessons. Elvin told him to play something. Charlie played something. "Hey man, play that again!". So I guess Charlie was better than he was given credit for at the time.
