Us old farts do heal and see improvement. Sometimes, it just takes a while!
Keep up the pace!In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).

Update: Talisman volunteered to drive me to Wisconsin where my Mom is freaking out about her youngest child having heart surgery. He will fly back to Bozeman.
Here is a photo of him in Jamestown ND wearing his chauffeurs uniform.

Harry's now referring to himself in the 3rd person? Or is this a secret cry for help, and he's actually been kidnapped?

Actually EF stands for Ejection Fraction, which is a measurement of how much your heart pumps with each beat. Normal range is roughly 50-70%.
Harry, have you had pulmonary function testing?

Harry’s Heart Surgery Thread
Yes, I have.
They locked me in a phone booth for about 90 minutes, they said it was normal.

Hey Harry! Just seeing this thread! Glad all is well, buddy...I wish I had known... Good to hear things went alright and that you're on the mend. We'll have to find some time to meet up this fall before the flakes start blowing. Take care, listen to the docs, and do the rehab they tell ya... Sending good vibes.

Regarding the low O2 saturation--have you ever had frostbite, even mild. I have a couple of fingers that are very sensitive to the cold, get painful and white. I never had any tissue loss on those fingers but I figure the sensitivity is due to low grade frostbite, which can cause the tiny arteries in the finger to shrink when cold later in life. Anyway--the O2 sat in those fingers is lower than in the others. If you haven't done this already (you probably have) try checking the sat in different fingers, the other hand, the earlobe, etc. The highest value is the most accurate. I assume you've had arterial blood gases drawn at least once--does the saturation correlate with the saturation measured with the pulse oximeter in your finger?
The other thing that messed up my saturation after I broke my back, ribs, and hip was when they measured the saturation in my finger while I was walking with the walker I had to use to not put weight on the hip. Figured out that gripping the walker was bad for saturation readings. Before we figured out how to properly measure my O2 sat it cost me a few extra days in the hospital on oxygen.
Glad you're doing well. Hope they get the O2 thing figured out.

So. If left hand fingers read lower than right hand fingers, could there be more to it than just damage to the fingers? Axing for a friend.

Careful and don't get the 'vid Harry. Two vaccinated friends just did a cross country drive to CA and got the 'vid somewhere in IL.

Serious answer to a ?serious question: a blockage to the artery to the arm could affect O2 saturation and especially blood pressure (lower). In people with vascular disease check the BP in both arms and take the higher one. The left is much more commonly blocked than the right.
As far as furious masturbation--it doesn't not affect saturation or blood pressure in the upper extremity used but it does tend to cause blindness more on that side.

My wife has the O2 sat problem in her fingers from pretty intense Raynauds. If they are cold she will read dead on the meter.

Glad to hear you're out and doing so well Harry!
I've had a couple friends have similar surgeries in the last year. Both are back biking harder than ever. Hope your recovery goes just as well!

UPDATE
I am doing very well, on my way to a full recovery. Feeling 20 years younger. Lots of energy. Great time of year here in northern Wisconsin, no humidity, temps in the 70’s, clear blue sky. Been out walking every day.
I do have some questions about Cardiac Rehab, so I created a thread in Gimp Central about it, anyone with specific expertise please give your input there.
Thank you for the huge outpouring of support. I received hundreds of PM’s , far too many to respond to individually. I even got a nice PM from Spook !
