Are they really $10 a piece? Wonder what the length is.

Current bid would put them at $.008333333 per skin. Most people would want a pair. Round up to $.02 per pair.

I meant the blacked out number behind the marker.

Back in May, a total of 6,626 pairs were for sale, of which 3,166 sold for less than a dollar per pair:
https://www.govplanet.com/for-sale/S...65-01-503-1874
... and another 3,460 pairs sold for less than ten cents per pair:

If someone can pick them up, I'd be happy to pay for something like a couple dozen pairs shipped to me, since eventually I'll have enough skimo racers out here to buy them for trainers.
(Or, let's see, for resort uphill training, I could discard a pair skins in a garbage can at the top of the lift after each lap so that I don't have to stow them in my pack or jacket.)Mo' skimo here: NE Rando Race Series

When are we going to start our TGR-community owned ski gear company?

Found them now for [re]sale on eBay, incorrectly described as nylon, with prices ranging from $35 to $80 for a single pair, or $500 for ten pairs ... with the competing listings all from the sale seller?!?

Shipping is ~$325 to Denver per pallet so if it goes for <$500, that's $1 per pair.

I’ll rent a van and drive from Denver to Vegas and back for $2,000.
Can take these to a production fulfillment facility.

I'm guessing they go with these skis:

Older karhu 10th mountain division skis. I think the 10th is on dps now... Major upgrade.
If so dims are 87-71-78.

1500 Pairs of Climbing Skins
Interesting. I’m willing to chip on on something if the group wants to do something. I’m in Denver.

1500 Pairs of Climbing Skins
Serious question. How much could you hacksaw off skis like these until they became unskiable? I’m thinking of them for a kid or small wife for basic skinning like at a resort. I have periodically wondered this over the years and seeing these has me thinking again.
People talk about moving just the mounting point up or back +-2-3 cm and claiming a ski changes. Well surely CUTTING 6-18 inches off a ski totally ruins it right?

I think with that profle taking too much off you'd end up with a pintail. I mean it's not like you can take equal amounts from the tip..
Not sure how a 87-71-72 would ski, but might be an interesting project with minimal investment. There are definitely threads here detailing how to seal it up after the cut.
The real challenge would be taking a foot out of the middle and somehow reattaching it. Would likely need big new sections of edge and some hardware on top
Look into it, eagerly awaiting the work report!

Just realized this is probably the real reason they developed the phantom treatment--that'll save the military folks a lot of time and money.
This IG post turned me on to it: https://www.instagram.com/p/CMPlgeHMd0C/
This video shows the skis a couple times, nothing clearly identifying them as DPS though: https://youtu.be/WbTpcGZfMsU
Here's a little more info: https://www.recoilweb.com/dps-skis-i...er-123436.html
Looks like they're Wailer 99s in white muticam, dynafit radicals on a demo track, and possibly scott cosmos boots. I want a pair of those multicam wailers!

^^ sweet, thanks for the info. Lots of ski shots in this video I found, but nothing that could identify them:

Those skis have been for sale for about two-and-a-half decades.
And even back then they had already been obsolete for a long time.
For $65, you can do a lot better. Even free dumpster-diving skis would be far preferable. And modifying them for kids could prompt notifications to your state's Child Protective Services.
The skins though are still good for skinny skis despite the vintage dating back to before BD bought Ascension: the glue back then was really nice (maybe even better, given subsequent regulatory changes), and mohair is still mohair.
If I lived within driving distance, I would put in a low-ball bid, max out the 56.2 cubic feet of my hatchback's cargo capacity, gradually sell them to skimo racers for ~$15 as trainers (probably not as fast or light as current race-specific skins), then spend the rest of my life occasionally marveling at the sight of hundreds of unsold pairs in my various basement gear storage areas.Mo' skimo here: NE Rando Race Series

I think it was barret trading? 25 or so years ago Some outfit not near snow that bought a bunch of one of the predecessors to these skins (they were mohair strapons, iirc) and tried to flog them for years in couloir/backcountry whatever niche media their was.

Looks like they are DPS in the video, you can see DPS on the bases near the tips. Makes sense the military chose DPS, they're one of the few manufacturers making skis in the US.

While we're on the subject of military skis...
Foldable model:

The infamous 333 skis had a blog post many years on developing a prototype for inspection by the nearby USMC Mountain Warfare Training Center, but I can't find it here:

Found these while looking for the above:

Obsolete AT boot from San Marco (who knew they made touring boots back in the day?) that is claimed to be Italian military surplus:

A military version of the old Scarpa F3 (not F1) still shows up for sale occasionally:

Although the late great Paul Ramer was an ingenuous innovator, he typically didn't follow through on the necessary fine-tuning, in part b/c he was insulated from market forces via the cash cow of this binding he produced for the U.S. military:

Dysfunction climbing skins that are probably military surplus:
