Hell we had a full on 20 person brawl erupt on Halloween on the stairs going down to the old eagles. Fuck if I know what started it but I punched and crawled my way out. Good times.

I will second all three parts of this ^^^

in 2021, it is wise to realize anyone may be armed. Don't get shot ( or stabbed )

This was just some random drunk standing in the doorway when I walked back in. I’m pretty sure he thought I was someone else because I had never seen this cat before in my life. He started talking shit, stepped up, and gave some sort of one-handed open-palmed shove/slap to my face.

All that aside though, I shouldn’t have paid this guy any attention in the first place and definitely shouldn’t have decked him. I feel like I’ve learned my lesson with this one and have no plans for physical altercation in the future.

    Lesson learned the easy way.

Shit, I was stabbed when I was in school because one of my friends shoved someone back and a fight ensued. I didn’t even fight; just got stabbed from behind. Can’t recommend it even though I got lucky.

    Collegge

Omg the Mormon girls when I was young

Only full on bar fight I’ve ever seen was at the rocking R on quarter beer night. Some big cowboy couldn’t get a drink so he reached over the bar and grabbed a bottle. The bouncers saw and started throwing people out of the way to get to this guy and the whole place went to hell. Someone actually got thrown out that big front window

Oh, it's definitely a thing. One of the most reliable traditions I noticed in my younger days. Come Fall, girls were getting anxious to settle in with a man for the winter. They'd be out at the clubs or singles groups on the prowl. Would be ready to dive right into a serious relationship. Stake their claim, nest, maybe move in, then hunker down. Have a nice winter with their man. Then come spring, they'd re-emerge, break ups would happen, be foot loose and fancy free all summer. Then sweater weather rolls in and the cycle starts anew. Once I noticed the phenomenon, it's cracked me up ever since. Hilarious seeing all your single friends pairing up and dropping off the scene, then all popping back up come Spring/Summer. Myself formerly included in the tradition in my bachelor days. Fall weather made for some serious shooting fish in a barrel with out of my league women. Hahaha.

    THOTUMN FTW!!!

    Thread is finally getting good.

I support your actions here. A slap to the face warrants a punch to the face.

I used to work the door on my house parties in college, drunk fucks would try to enter my property and get rough, haymaker to the temple always shut them up or a jab in the chin button to put them to sleep.

They’d go back to their frat and come back with a crew and try to rush the party and we’d have brawls in the street.

    Ahhhh…college was fun.

    Yes I was an asshole.

As said above way more guns out there today so be careful.

One of the things Upstate New York teaches you is where and where not to get in fights.

Do not get in a fight in a location involving large crowds and no exit.

Additionally you learn the whens - as in there is a particular state of intoxication of opponent that you should avoid. Sober is ok. Stone drunk is fine (and funny). Drunk enough to not feel pain or think totally rationally, but still sober enough to react quickly - that’s bad.

Don’t fight that level of drunk.

Learn those lessons and move on.
