there are a lot of things that make this a dream come true but making heirlooms is probably the coolest one for me.

Bigger muskies will occasionally snag a ducking. Not preferred but sometimes too tempting to pass up..

Jackson Hot Springs is rough around the edges but one hell of a place to soak. You'll have to post a trip report on Elk Horn after a day of skiing at Maverick.

Hope you have decent wifi for porn cause it's gonna be slim pickens for eligible ladies in the greater Twin Bridges and Dillon area.

Yeah, 5wt won’t work on a musky. Trying to cast a huge heavy fly with steel cable leader and big thicc line needs a 10 or 12wt.

I was planning on sharing my rod with SyF, but having a 2nd rod would be nice.

If it works better, SFB could ship it to me and I can have it rigged with the correct leader on it when you get here.

Moved in yesterday, fished most of the day today, and start work tomorrow. The pad is nice...very nice. Vaulted ceilings, completely updated, large deck, and a view. 2 mins to the Beaverhead, 5 mins to Poindexter, 15 to the Big. Went into one of the shops in town to see about working the retail space a few afternoons and evenings a week and ended up talking to the owner for an hour and a half. Super cool guy. No work in the shop but might get to run a few trips next spring if i pay my dues this fall and winter.

Left the shop and headed into the hills. 40 miles of dirt road and ruts later, I found a nice meadow stream up on a high plateau that had some fishing that didn't suck. Fished until it got hot and headed back in to town to hit Poindexter. Ended up snagged on some thick veg after a few minutes and one jerk of the rod snapped my tip section. Thats my only rod so I left dejected but figured i can fill the void tomorrow at work. Pulled back onto my street and saw something laying in the road in front of my driveway. Thought it was a piece of car or something before I pulled up next to it and realized that it was a rod tube. I thought it was mine at first but alas, it was not. I decided that I'd put it to an afternoon of use before trying to track down the owner. Headed back to the slough and redeemed myself with two nice fish. Don't really know how I'm gonna get it back to the rightful owner. Guess I'll leave my contact at the shops around town if anyone comes asking. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

Work tomorrow. Very ready to get started and meet some people. Still don't know exactly what I'll be doing but I don't really care. Gonna stop by the other shops in town after work until I find one that I can log some hours in. Telling myself I'm going to explore a new lake or stream every day after work until the beav and hole are back in business. Bozeman on this weekend to see the homies and homettes and not get kicked out of el camino. straight and narrow for me unless i want to crash and burn. planning on having a lady friend here next weekend for a few days and nights of country living and fly fishing primer.

Crashing and burning sucks but if stubborn we will do it repeatedly. Until you get tired of it. Best of luck. Sweet blog.

No casting needed. You could wrap some treble hook necklaces around their little necks and let them swim around.

Is that your driveway? You are accumulating Twin Bridges street cred rapidly!

Also, go to Chick’s on Friday nights. It’s the best.

You are a true college age kid. Need to get someone to change a flat tire, just like my kids.

That impact wrench will work a bit better if the hose is attached to it.

    Sucks about your day 1.

"Proper jack points" are there for when you use the silly toy jack in the trunk to lift the body a foot and get the tire 1" off the ground. Lift with a real jack from the a point below the shock and you only need lift the car and inch or two. Let me offer the OP some advice my dad gave me. "Listen to everyone's advice. You're a smart kid and will figure what works best for you".

On a serous note if your planning on cruising around off road looking for fishing spots get some tire plugs and a 12 v plug in inflator so you're not stranded requiring help.

At least they left the jack and tools. Some places they just leave it on concrete blocks for you to sort everything out later.

I haven't kept up on this young man's adventures. So instead of college, he's gluing on rod guides in MT now?

    Let him live.

I'll give no advice to kids on how to work on cars. They have YouTube, I had a nearly worthless, greasy Chilton manual to guide me while I worked on my car all night to be able to go to work in the morning.
