Marathon / Multi-day Mountain bike Events: What's on your list?

Since my ramp up for Kokopelli this spring, I've been in a "having fun" mode with riding.

    But,

It's time to start planning again.

    My asks:
    1. What marathon events are open in the fall in the Mountain west?
    2. Can we make a compendium of interesting / maggot approved events across the year / country?
    3. Can we do this for Gravel and Mountain Bike?

What can you personally attest to as being awesome?
I don't want this to be a list of races, I want this to be a list of incredible (endurance leaning) events.

I haven't done these, but plan to in the future:

    Marji Gesik:
    2. Ishpeming, MI.
    3. Not sure...COVID.
    4. 100mi brutal...difficult. But you get a belt buckle. (Watch the video on the link); you can also run or single speed if you're one of those "special" people.
    5. https://marjigesick.com/.
NOTE: If you want to do this, Marj generally sells out a few minutes...so whenever they have it again, you gotta be on the ball AND lucky!

Also NOTE: There's nothing in either Ishpeming or Marquette and you have to WANT to go there (there's no: since I'm in the area)...but they're cool little towns. Also, the area has become a MTB Mecca of sorts: https://www.bikemag.com/routes/mount...ide-marquette/.
If you somehow (god knows how???) find your self in that area, you should check it out. Just in case you're worried, Marquette does have a hospital that does an excellent job of stitching up a knuckle sliced open by a knife...or so I'm told...medical care is available.

    Tran-Sylvania Epic.
    2. Rothrock State Forest, Huntingdon, PA (Penn State).
    3. End of May; 2022 dates not out yet; 2021 was May 25-29.
    4. Multi-day Stage race - 3 day and 5 day options; each stage around 30mi (except stage 5 was 18).
    5. https://www.tsepicmtb.com/

    Shenandoah 100
    2. Mt. Salon, VA (sorta near Charlottesville);
    3. September 5, 2021;
    4. 100 mi near Shenandoah Nat'l Park; also a 100K option
    5. This website stinks: http://www.mtntouring.com/mountain/h.../page_home.htm. Register: https://www.bikereg.com/48566

There's a bunch more...but those three (esp Marj...it' legendary) stick out for me.

Do it whenever you want. It's still on my list as I only did one way last year.

Still going back and forth on signing up for this. I may just try it solo instead. A 5:00 am leave them and hammering to try to finish sounds way more fun that the 10:00 pm Depart.

IMO, the 100k isn’t worth the price of entry. Too much road, not particularly challenging, and cuts out two of the best descents and the French fries at AS 6.

I haven't. I've been seriously lax in my MTB adventures. I need to work on that...and get off the road. If you think of any others down that way, feel free to share.

The Stoopid 50 was relocated from PA to Stokesville a few years ago. It covers some great riding with minimal road and lots of steep singletrack. I’ve ridden the route, but have never done the race. I never feel prepared that early in the season.

    1. Stoopid 50
    2. Stokesville, VA
    3. March/April (4/25/21)
    4. Two of the best descents in GWNF, plus some stuff they can’t squeeze into the SM100.

I really want to sign up for the 2022 High Cascades after reading about it, but $270 for the entry fee? Seems excessive

its a VERY well run event, 4 check points, sweep team, medics on site, after ride BBQ and band etc.

FYI: in the past if you volunteer for a day you get a free entry to a shorter event, or of 2 of you work its a free entry for the HC100.

Prices are similar to other big events? BC bike race etc?

    2. Coburn, Pennsylvania - mostly in Bald Eagle State Forest. Millheim, PA is closest inhabited place. State College PA is about 25 miles away. Original Camp Woodward is about 4 miles away.
    3. 24Jul2021. Late July every year.
    4. Single loop, state forest roads, trails, logging roads. 101 miles, 12k ft. climb.

    I spectate only, 101 miles I can't do on a mountain bike.

Search for National Ultra Endurance Mnt bike races. This is one of 'em.

    Crusher in the Tushar
    Beaver, UT
July 10, 2021 (usually runs in July)
Gravel/dirt and paved (60/40) road race above 10k feet, P2P w/ shuttle or downhill coast back to the start. Awesome course. I think it's around 70 miles w/ 10k vert. Very well run and difficult. Been there 3 times on a SS and geared bike. Will go back if I get the chance. Maybe in 2022. Pro tip - don't miss out on Beaver Tacos for Mex if you're there.

    24hrs in the Enchanted Forest
Zuni Mtns outside of Gallup, NM
June 12-13, 2021 (usually runs in June)
24 hour race on a 13 mile course w/ 1000' of vert. Do it solo, as a duo, or as a team. Well run and great location, great atmosphere. Been there 4 times and will go back again. Pro tip - bring a bandana.
