GoFundMe type site? Set x amount per scholarship and see how many mags we can send?

I already booked Mammoth for March 2022, but I would be happy to kick some cash in for those less fortunate that deserve a hookup. I will keep an eye out for the thread.

Damn, fucking solid work. I would also chip in some money.

I would love to go - maybe 2023? Headed to the same Ymir Trip that doebedoe is doing to, so my wad is spent this year.

Out of curiosity, is a touring set-up quasi-required for this shindig. I know lifts exist, but would one be standing around asking: "hey...where'd everyone go" without one?
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Most mags don't like walking that much. There may be a day or two you wish you had one. But a lot of the sidecountry doesn't require anything more than a bunch of traversing and perhaps a bootpack.

This. Most sidecountry is accessible via boot pack, some pretty long, some not so much. I had a cast set up and never put skins on. Walk mode on boots is a must as you will be walking in boots a lot from train stations to lifts and visa versa.
There are a couple objectives that I will do next time that require skins. Just depends on what you want. I would roll with a robust binding that can handle inbounds as well as walking.

Europe is certainly one environment in which a frame/Duke PT/Shift/Tecton is the ideal binding.

vendul has very nice touring rigs available for rent as well near his hotel.

AFAIK, there's really only one bootpack off the top of the Gemsstock at Andermatt and that's to get to the Guspis, 6+ miles of skiing

    which ends here in Hospental:

That said, there's a few others around Disentis that are bootable, but longer where skins are preferred :

as well as Piz Maler across the valley from Mountain Lodge in Rueras with a 15 person private cable car to take off the first 700m of climbing.

Also, during the shutdown year before last, we toured every day. Yes, maggots walked a lot.

I'll get an account set up for a gofundme project to extend some financial aid to those who would like to go to not only EuroBBI, but other maggot gatherings.

For EuroBBI2022, it looks like costs will be a little more this year unless plane flights drop, but I think we should budget about $2200 for a EuroBBI skilarship week.

Share the love and madness people.

    It is.

    Trust me.

I'm a ski fiend, been around the block and this is one of the best.

The distinguishing feature is how incredibly easy and inexpensive it is.

    Plus, vendul.

With a 20 day window for BBIEuro this year -- it might be entirely possible to get an Urner Haute route trip in during your time there. If a hut-to-hut in Euro land is on your bucket list it's certainly one to consider. Here's my TR: https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...ute-Route-2019

Since my carnival holidays are earlier I may only attend on a weekend....If it dumps.

A10min hike will get you here: and then you ski right back to the lift. 5k vert feet is one Lap.

It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.
