ZRH is optimal, but Geneva is almost as good with railway at the airport. We used to go in that way en route to France/Cham/Verbier/La Grave/Briancon. The Hotel Strasbourg right next to the Gare Cornavin (main GVA train station) is the best value in Geneva.

I've used the Moevenpick near ZRH and they were totally cool when reservations got screwy in 2020 covid exit.

Basel/Mulhouse is my next favorite, but requires a short bus to the train. The restaurant at La Villa K in Mulhouse kills it. Basel is beautiful.

Frankfurt is another decent hub with either rail or cityhopper flights to ZRH.

I've never done Munich, but I've heard it works well too.

I thought about that scenario after posting.
    Pin setup will work.
Many skied in Tectons just fine.

I also keep an eye on cheap flights to AMS or CDG and then you can always get a super cheap flight almost anywhere in Europe from those two.
Let me know what you find. I’d want a drinking partner for that long a flight…

Absolutely. The play is an edible before taking off, 2 beers as soon as drink service is available, 2 bourbons after dinner service, followed by an Ambien. Then zone out watching movies, never really sleeping and arrive at your destination in a strange hyper-aware trance state.

The question is whether you are ready to take on a European chimp in that state.

To those worried about equipment: if you find yourself malequipped for the day’s objective, rental places in Switz are generally good about carrying what you need/want. I wouldn’t presume to speak for other local reps, but people are also welcome to tap into my admittedly modest quiver as desired.

Took a peak today at airline prices. $490 rt nonstop Boston to Zurich on Swiss air. 1 bag underneath added another $184 rt. Not ready to plunk down change for a nickel but those are good prices

The move would be to book it via United.com using a mileageplus credit card and get two free checked bags. Plus lounge passes to get boozed up for free pre-flight. The fee is $95 but waived for the first year, and you'd get 40,000 united miles to use for another ski trip. Cancel it after that. Just my $0.02.

Oh and let me refer you so that I can get bonus miles to pay for my trip
Everybody's gotta have parkas. I'm talking custom parkas. Two words: "client development." They see all of you out there cutting the powder in your matching Schweikart & Cokely parkas, you'll make an impression. You will thank me later.

I'm planning at least a week during that timeframe, hopefully accompanied by Mrs. Mike.

I'll stay plugged in to see when other folks are planning to swing through because 20 days is a wide window.

Can confirm that Munich does work for a gateway airport. It will add a couple of hours to your train time vs. Zurich, but train time is easy.
