I will come over too.... for a weekend or so...
There is a direct night train from amsterdam to innsbruck nightjet421 it has lockable cabins and bunkbeds. You can rent 6beds for 300euros and it is a private room!
I heared there is paper dispensers on the toilet. A friend of a friend told a friend that it is possible to pull all the paper towels out of the casing and store some mojo in there. Ofcourse refill again with paper towels.

I expect I’ll be around and am always happy to show folks around the Klosters Davos area. Will also try to pop over for a few days in Andermatt.

Looks like the Wynegg is jacking up their rates and Cedric is gone. But my plan is still to slice through Klosters (where it's small and flat) for a few days.

Maybe this year we can get the Davos/Arosa/Lenzerheide route done?

    Currently $1200 SLC-Zurich main cabin, but…..
Needing a new ski set-up adds to the cost of this considerably

This looks amazing. I was actually booked for this 2 years ago, then covid, and I canceled just before leaving home.
I currently have a nice Delta Airlines credit, and my habit is to book trips well in advance, but I'm going to wait and see how things develop. I'm hoping the world will be normal enough for international travel this winter.

I suspect that is a lousy itinerary, +bag fees.

Surely your pension will cover that.

You don’t *need a new set up for this thing. Any inbounds set up at 105ish underfoot will work.
I never put my skins on.
Most aspects can be had by traverse or boot pack.
Plus many other mags will ride cable or trudge around with you most happily.
I will happily loan my Salomon cast system.
Traversed over to about 6k’ of this..

Some days you’ll not need to get away from the lifts. This day it was not recommended to leave the lift serve and even then it was sketchy as there is pretty much zero avi mitigation. Plus it’s all alpine with no signage for cliff areas and whiteouts were common.

I haven’t had an inbounds set up for a few years now. Pin bindings and AT boots only.

I’ve been looking to get a set up for a season or so as I usually have some cheap/free lift tickets come my way a few times a year and I’d like to take advantage. Would Tectons be the way to go for a handful of lift served days a year that I could still skin sidecountry with?

I've been happy with mine over the last year.
But pins and AT boots would be fine.

One of the most bizarre things about skiing in Yurp is how most people stay on the "piste", a marked, groomed run when there's acres and acres of ungroomed, even uncut, right next door.

Though as the funkster says, lots of those zone have unmarked hazards.

Ha, I’m not a pensioner yet!

Yeah, typically I try to stick to Delta due to free luggage, free upgrades, non-stops SLC to Europe and lounges, but for $500 plus, I’d definitely shop around.

I put up notification requests on Kayak.com and google flights and pounce when they drop below $700 for a euro carrier like Air France or British Air. They're worth the extra $100.
fwiw, I found asaptickets on kayak.

I did the same. Air France and KLM are both skyteam/Delta partners so that’d be a bonus.

I also keep an eye on cheap flights to AMS or CDG and then you can always get a super cheap flight almost anywhere in Europe from those two.
