AQI 151 is the magic number where CALOSHA, WashL&I, and other states require employers to provide respirators to employees working outside… just something to think about….

No one has to live in New Hampshire, we prefer to live here!
It’s 20 here right now (0600 local time). Zero ozone
If New Hampshire is so great, why is it third in the country in opioid use and overdoses?

    AQI whats your number

    Sorry for partying?
Opioids only kill you if you use them, I don’t use them. Smoke in the air affects everyone.

97.5% of people in Alabama have an opioid prescription? That's... a lot.

    (Sorry for the tangent)

Seeing the worst I've ever seen near my house this morning, on purpleair.com - 700s in South Reno, off Mt Rose highway. All from the Dixie fire.

It was in the 20s yesterday before the wind shifted.

    Whats your cutoff?
I have definitely ridden/raced in some 140-150 smoke and felt it the next day. Recently been some days where in town is 140s+ but pedal half way up SC and you can see blue sky and it really clears out. I had a friday a few weeks ago where in town was socked in, SC was clear air, literally ZERO cars at the TH at 5pm. Glorious.

Holy shit. Guess we got lucky in Tahoe last weekend. Buddies bachelor party. On the lake on Sunday it was almost normal air.

Salt Lake went from kinda smokey this morning to "I can now see smoke within a block of me" apocalypse and the town now smells like a fire, all within the last hour or two.

Came out of nowhere quick. AQI readings right now can't be accurate....

Yeah the change here from yesterday to today was incredible. Tahoe is worse than I've ever seen it in 13 years here. Reno/Carson is bad as well.

Bozeman cleared out last night and we have the best air we've had in weeks. Bunion, hope you can take advantage and get on the bike. I'm taking a half-day off work to get out now before the smoke moves back in.

I use https://fire.airnow.gov/. nice to see the fires with links to inciweb. Trend and history is nice too.

For me depends, did a couple rides in Santa Cruz while on a road trip when it was pretty bad Nov 2018. But local rides, I would not do in "unhealthy" and above.

Subject to change quickly but SLC has the worst air on the planet right now according to this site:

    https://www.iqair.com/us/world-air-quality-ranking

    Seems wrong....

Nevada City and Grass Valley CA are the worst I can find right now on purpleair. More than double SLC numbers.

Surely those aren't real-time numbers, but some kind of rolling average.

I've heard that part of SLC's AQ problems are not just smoke, but massive amounts of dust being kicked up, from the lake being so low.

I feel 60-70 in the evening after a ride. Multiple days of that, and I start to hack a bit. This is something I was oblivious to until a couple weeks ago when we started to get some of the wildfire smoke. Prior to that, we were hovering in the low 20s, according to the history. Just takes a little shift in the wind for NH to be experiencing the same thing we are.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Massive? On certain days yes, sometimes not at all, overall probably a bit of hyberbole on many non-windy days is my uneducated guess.

Damn you all. I've never really thought about this before as a numerical test, and now I'm gonna probably give up outdoor exercise now and then based on AQI.

Yeah, this seems like either this is a tad unscientific or Alabama is fucking insane.

Left Coeur d’Alene for Missoula this weekend. CDA AQI had been abysmal. Today with the help of a strong south wind it cleaned up. Now in Missoula, the AQI is higher here than home. Fml. Still not that bad here.
