Last Fri 8/6 I woke up at 5AM and the smoke was so bad I could taste it. Got up and closed all the windows and checked AirNow.gov, it said 1029! Luckily by 9AM it was down to only about 600.

Finally got back on a bike yesterday. A buddy let me borrow his extra ebike and we did a couple shuttles.
I guess that's what it's come to, the only safe biking is shuttling with ebikes,

If I read the forecast correctly, looks like the wind will pick up tomorrow and blow all the smoke out by Tue. Probably will not be good for the firefighters but I'm selfishly looking forward to seeing some blue skies.

    We're at 161 this morning.

Gotta be pushing close to 200 now. I feel like a bitch for not riding today, but I was also coughing from doing nothing and it full on smells like smoke outside.

Guess I'm gonna do intervals on the trainer. Thats gonna be a real hoot.

currently 181. Been holding steady between 160 and 220 for the past week. No exercising outside anywhere above 75 or so for me. F that noise.

Hoping it clears a bit next week, but it isn't looking good. Pretty tired of dealing with it year after year, TBH. Might have to make the move back to the Appalachians or something. Difficult to justify when it's only bad 10-15% of the year, but it does f'ing suck.

The pandemic certainly makes the whole thing worse. Everybody on edge around here...

Smoke is definitely on the list of shit I'm tired of dealing with and will definitely expedite our departure. This shit is getting old.

^^ I'd like to believe this year was an outlier with the heat dome helping the fires start early. but, yeah... it sucks.

Just back after a sunshine coast vacation, with AQI in the single digits. 250 tending our garden, washing 2wks of ash off of the autos. Winds pushing the fires in the OK and KAM firezones. Wife is seriously considering escaping with the daughter back to Van Is after her next couple nightshifts.

A sloop in the San Juans does sound pretty nice right now.

I think tonight is the first time in a week we've been in single digits. I'm tempted to mount the lights because I don't trust it to last until morning.

Looking forward to that rain. Supposedly some snow on the Continental Divide too.

It's in the 80s - 90s here but now that my lungs are irritated I have 0 motivation to ride.... Maybe when it dips down into the 50s again.

So smokey in Jackson now. Yesterday was 150. I'm seeing AQI above 400 east of Lassen. Can't imagine.
I'm using the smoke layer on open snow to plan my trips now. Headed to Hailey today. Ping me if you want to ride/shuttle.

Ha! You weren't the guy from Hailey who climbed the Cathedral traverse this weekend, were you? if so - we met at the summit, we were the party that did Petzoldt in a day.

    Well shit.

Forecast was 65 and rain tonight. Rain never showed, fire north of town exploded and AQI went from 45 to 350+ in an hour.

Back on the trainer I guess.

Just got back from a dog walk at 299. This was while it was raining. My shirt literally smells like a wet campfire.
