As a pup our last golden was frequently penned in a run, in the garage, when we had to leave him alone. Our older goldie would have access into the garage from the house and hang out there with him.

We'd leave KUOW/NPR playing in the garage for background noise.

He quickly became accustomed that we were going to be home shortly after All Things Considered started late afternoon.

Years after the pen was no longer needed and to the time of his death he'd get excited and "sing" along with their da da daa jingle if it played in the house or when he was in the car.

The current new pup I'd ask, "did you really need to eat another sock, pine cone, dish cloth, flip flop or phone cable? Were you pleased with what happened last time you did?
