The Olympics will go ahead and there will be much disappointment as nations top medal hopeful athletes have to bail at the last minute do to testing positive and then be stuck in a Beijing hotel for a month eating cold eggs from a cardboard box provided by the government.

Should be an interesting Winter Classic tonight, -8F in Minnesota. My mom could relate to watching my outdoor hockey games on frigid MN nights lol. She HATED it! Apparently the kids' hockey leagues don't even play outdoors anymore, according to my dad. All indoor ice time. Anyway it's on TNT right now.

It was brutal cold outdoor evenings or 3am indoor games for me. The 3am shit convinced me to ski more and play hockey less..

Tried to record the ODR game but it didn’t work, and it’s not streaming on ESPN+. Lame.

Last time I played hockey was 20 years ago--on a pond, --10F, and I had no pads. I had to turn the game off, too much whining about the cold.
Years ago we visited my brother in Minneapolis in July. We went to the outdoor public pool, I went into the building next door to piss and kids were playing hockey (on a rink, not in the men's room).
I was there in the winter one year and in the hotel the TV was showing the state HS hockey tournament on one of the legacy channels during prime time. The TV commentator was explaining how the goalie went around the wrong side of the goal to retrieve a puck--which is more sophisticated than anything I hear watching the NHL. They are serious about their hockey in MN.

Early 80s when I was in high school school pretty much shut down during the Minnesota high school hockey tournament every year. There were those TV carts in pretty much every classroom with the games on.

A friend sent me this, no idea when it’s from. The “we” is intriguing. At the same time?

Canucks now have 4 goalies under covid protocol, so playing against St Louis tonight they are going with an AHL goalie on his 2nd ever NHL start, and an emergency backup goalie from UBC.

Vegas has Washington, Florida, Carolina, and Tampa on the road this week. Quite the gauntlet.

You could charitably say that Rask was not at his sharpest tonight.

No, this was his third start. B's controlled the action almost all night but Rask let in a couple he'd like to have back. The other games he played pretty well.

I've never been so torn. Tuukka is back in net but he looks terrible and we have Swayman appearing ready for the NHL. There has been a strong group of anti-Rask supporters in Boston and I've always gone against them but I'm wondering if it's time.

That little rat turd Marchand is at it again.

    https://boston.cbslocal.com/2022/02/...uspension-nhl/

He's already been suspended once this season for a slew foot. How many games this time? Punch a goalie and an intentional stick to the face!

And of course Crosby just holds Marchand from behind and then just skates away from the entire thing!

He's lost his mind. Should get 30 days. The Bruins will cry and wail that they're the victims.

Ha! They'll suspend Wilson for Marchand's antics!
