Yeah, the Hawaiians got hugely fucked over but I think it goes way beyond Olympic surfing.

It's a bit naïve to expect the Olympics to right all the wrongs in the world. That's what wars are for.

Men’s road race had a decently exciting finish from final climb at ~70k to go in.

I stayed up way too late watching it, turned right around then. If anyone sees a full copy of the race any online, I'd be much obliged.

My kid had the same reaction.

Man, they had some hard falls in the single trick session. The worst had to be the nut crunch on the far rail.

I was actually on the edge of my seat watching the gold medal womens fencing match. First gold ever for the USA in fencing!

Can anybody who knows skateboarding explain to me why the japanese kid won the gold on what looked to me to be a much simpler trick than what the other guys were doing? I mean, he just jumped the board onto the rail, rode it for a second and landed. There was no kick flip, no board spinning, no nothing. What was so special about that trick??

It is super difficult despite no spins, etc.

I DVR’d it and it cut out with 10-12k to go, right before the winning move... we found some YouTubers synopsis that showed a clip of that final break. But yeah, I’d love to watch the last 15min

NBC’s 5min recap was garbage. The TDF recaps have been great this year, up to 40-50min and covering everything that happened. This recap could’ve been 10min, without much effort, and shown the gist of the race.

Agree. Random portions of the race without showing any key moments.

I know those skateboarders were probably doing incredible tricks, but I've got to say it's pretty boring on TV.
