I use a 5l of this. 5 Liters American Oak Aging Barrel | Handcrafted using American White Oak | Age your own Whiskey, Beer, Wine, Bourbon, Tequila, Hot Sauce & More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J82FLWW...89MHVJA5RPQ3BJ
Mainly manhattans, vieux carre, and Martinez’s. I want to find a tequila drink I can age to send off this barrel.
That Cabernet float looks dope.

A Pink Panther:
Vodka, club soda, a splash of lemon juice and add cranberry juice until the drink is the same color as the Pink Panther.

Well, if it’s not a G&T, lately the go to summer drinks have been Negronis, fresh-squeezed Margaritas and a Woodford Spire which is something I learned about on Derby Day: 2oz Woodford, 2oz fresh lemonade, 1oz cranberry served over crushed ice. It’s like a bourbon lemonade slush I used to get at this one fair every summer. Very good on a hot day.
I still call it The Jake.

Damn. Yeah I'm gonna order one of those.
Try one of these in the barrel (make it first obviously to see if you like them):
Vieux Ananas:
1 oz rye
1 oz Plantation Pineapple Rum
1 oz carpano antica
.5oz Benedictine
2 dashes ango
Stir, serve up. One of my all time favorites. This drink alone makes it worthwhile to pick up a bottle of Plantation Pineapple.

Jalisco Winter
1.5 oz repousado
.5 mezcal
.5 St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur
.5 lime (omit if aging to add later)
Stir, serve up

Since I don't like Whiskey, Bourbon, Scotch, ginger and most other manly liquors but do like sweet or sour drinks, summertime is the time of year I play bartender.
My go to summer drink is a traditional homemade Cointreau margarita. It is simple, fantastic.
I make these by the batch and then shake them with ice each time I serve a drink. The key is lots of ice.
The ratio I usually use is:
2 oz Sausa Hornitos tequila
1 oz Cointreau
1 oz fresh lime juice
I mix a large pitcher full of these and put the pitcher in the refrigerator. I shake each margarita individually in a shaker filled with ice and serve in large 12 OZ margarita glasses. I like that the melting ice takes a bit of the tartness out of the drink as the ice melts.
A couple of times each summer I will make fruity frothy Pina Coladas/daquiris with a twist. Instead of using rum I often use flavored vodkas.
For these drinks I dont measure anything. Simply fill the blender with ice and then add a copious amount of coco Lopez creme de coco (your choice depending on how sweet you like your summer drinks). Fill the blender half full of pineapple juice and fill the remainder of the blender with a mix of orange, mango and unflavored vodka.
These are just fun and delicious twists on the age old summertime favorites.

Spin on a margarita:
3 parts reposada tequila
1 part ancho Reyes Chile liqueur
1 part gran mariner
1 part fresh squeezed lime
Stirred with copious amounts of ice then poured over a big cube.
On that note I’ll add that using a bunch of ice in the shaker then pouring the drink over more ice or just in an insulated cup really preserves the integrity and flavor of a cocktail in the 90+ degree heat. More ice in the shaker means less water in your cocktail.

Was just going to bump one of the cocktail threads. Trader Joe's has a jalepeno limeade. Poured that over Espolon and ice. Easy take on a chipotle marg.

Lots of fancy cocktails here, but I'm going back to the 80's this hot summer and making lots of Seabreezes. Damn they are good.

I recently had, what was described as a “Hemingway daiquiri”. It was served in a cocktail glass and had some seriously boozy / gas smell on the way in but it was rather tasty.

i love this drink, one of my favorites. super delicious - justifies a bottle of ancho reyes on it's own.
hemingway daquiri is a classic, i love the sweet cherry flavor in it (luxardo)
i think it's the drink i posted in the G&T thread that made magnificunt unicorn get all shitty with me?
this drink -
1.25oz montenegro amaro
.75oz rye whiskey (i used rittenhouse)
1oz lemon
1/4oz simple
1tsp campari (i used bruto americano)
1/2 tsp balsamic
2 dash fee brothers grapefruit bitters (or sub lemon bitters)
1 dash peychauds
shake on ice, serve in a chilled coup (or nick and nora)
it sounds complex but most everything is off-the-shelf (except for maybe the montenegro) - DRINK IT IF YOU LIKE grapefruit, sweet, whiskey. it tastes amazing.

Thanks. I’ll have to check this weekend and see if they have it in ID/WY.
