Just come on up here. Fog has moved back in as of Friday night. Been drizzling the last to mornings. Chilly even. Your wife would hate it. But our heat is gone this week.

Of course 30 minutes drive inland and it is hot still

No wet fall in So Cal ever. Thankfully the heat is suppose to be reasonable through months end here. By August and into September it is typically to hot for me. And the AC bill

I suspect there are going to be a number of people asking to work in the office because they don’t have AC.

My main gripe with heat waves when I’m traveling is how it fucks up epic long bike rides / hikes etc. Or makes big outdoor house projects brutal.

I mean yeah, I could throw in the towel and just sit on my ass drinking cold beer with my feet in the water every day, but I prefer to do that after exercising or working outside, not instead of.

This exactly. I'm not bitching about the heat per se (although I'd happily do without), I'm pissed about the fact that it eats into my biking time and I can't do shit around the yard without constantly running in the shade to pound water and cool off. This weather makes it hard to get started on anything outside because I know it's going to involve more suffering than it should.
None of that shit happens in the winter, I just layer up and get going.

Looks like there's some chances for rain in SLC in the next couple of days. I'll believe it when I see it, last time it "rained" the only indication was the smell, no trace of water visible anywhere.
We lost a chicken to heat stroke last week, the 107 degree day did her in despite having a fully shaded area with multiple water sources. We've been watering their area a couple times a day to cool them off and douse the roof of the coop in the evening to cool things off (and collect that water to dump on the garden).

So those prayers the Governor called for are working?

Well what the hell. I just bought a window unit. It does not even come close to KQ's magnificent.....unit.

Good luck this next week, it looks hotter than Hades in W2.

Keep the closet door open so you don’t overheat. I hear there’s a heat wave

$12K unfortunately. It's a "package unit." AC and heat pump. Entire unit is outside.

Looks like I had it installed just in time. My old one gave up the ghost last August and I put off getting a new one until earlier this month.

I have two ac/furnace package units on this house that are 20 years old. This year is the roof and solar, the hvac is likely next. During the 108 days here the main unit was struggling to keep up.
