I've been digging Helles lagers lately. They seem to be quite popular this summer and I can understand why. Fairly light and refreshing without too much hop bitterness. I'm drinking a pFriem Helles right now and it's delicious.

The beer in your fridge. That's the best one. I'm stopping by unannounced so stock up. And don't shoot me.

My wife doesn’t like it though. I think it’s too ‘girly’ for her taste buds. Make of it what you will.

My sailboat and sunny weather beer (and actually year round beer if I’m honest) is and will always be Heineken.

These have already re-affirmed themselves as my summer go-to beers after the first week of pool season.

I've been introduced to another beer drink (michelada?) though that may be a new favorite:

Take a large mug (Yeti/plastic since you're in the pool) and rim with fresh lime juice and Taijin

    Fill with ice

Pour in 2 very light Mexican lagers like Corona or Tecate

Squeeze the juice of 1-2 persian limes

Add a shot of blanco tequilla if you're feeling like turning it up a bit.

So cold and refreshing and the Taijin just sorta mixes in and adds a layer of flavor.
I still call it The Jake.

Anderson Valley has such good beers. Hop Ottin was my standard North Coast apres abalone diving beer for a long time.

Careful out there. Apparently my kid’s teacher’s best friend was killed by a shark when they were abalone diving.

Probably upthread but give a Hefeweizen a proper pour then top it off with a 1 second splash of Coca Cola.

I don't kill rattlesnakes and I don't eat sharks. And so far they've returned the consideration.

But anyway the fishery is closed, likely no more abalone diving for another 20 years or longer, which makes me sad. Risking one's life for good food is an incredibly enriching experience.
