    California's dry ..... again

Rather than dig up the old CA drought threads, I thought it appropriate to start fresh (every drought is special):
No point in making any definitive statements this early on, but I would like to get an update on recent changes on ground water management with application to drought conditions. ...... Light Ranger?

Oh. Thank god it’s only water.

For a second there I thought the state was going full prohibition.

Thinking out loud—do we need a CA specific thread? Tons of mags in areas as bad or worse:

Drought is a multi dimensional issue obviously but FWIW the CA Reservoir situation ranges significantly….many are above 95% of normal. As I recall, the Kern drainage is an example of a bad exception. . http://cdec.water.ca.gov/reportapp/javareports?name=RES

Good point - it is much more than just California. That CDEC data needs a little more time to settle in - I would perhaps not use the term "many" being 95% above normal. My biggest concern these days is ground water - again, not just in CA. Was hoping for some insider updates on the SMGA.

Haven't most of those areas always had droughts, I believe that's why they are called deserts? If you live in a fucking desert you should expect it to be.dry.

When I lived in Sacramento 105 meant I didn't wear a tie (my personal rule; there was no dress code).
(The best code I ever heard for doctors was--at work you should wear whatever you wore when you interviewed for med school and residency. The professor who said that voted against making it an actual rule. He's a staunch Libertarian--and the son of old time Socialists.)

I feel bad for the people...but 80% of California’s water use is agriculture. It is flat stupid. What do they expect?

Yeah, why can't Californians be smart and live in the hard, deep desert like Phoenixians?!?!?

Says the guy in CO munching on his CA veggies for dinner and drinking a glass of water from the same river system that grows those CA veggies. People in CO, UT, AZ, and NV shouldn't complain about CA water use as you are all in the same water basin. This includes Denver and SLC who both pump water across mountain divides that would naturally flow to CA.

First...I don’t live in Denver and my water is not pumped over...second...the rest of you bitches should just be glad we let you have what we don’t need.

Also...there are other places without water shortages to grow veggies. CO has the same problem...87% of water use is agricultural. It is stupid...say it with me....there is a better way...
