I mean, it was really more patience than balls. Running the ball was working, just had to not get tempted to start throwing it.

Apparently it greatly annoys some coaches when they hear about Belichick's propensity for taking away an opponents strength. They're like, "We all try to do that!"

What makes BB different is that he prepares his teams to do it with all sorts of schemes against all sorts of schemes. They play mostly zone one week and mostly man the next. They switch between 3-4 and 4-3. They blitz a ton then they barely blitz at all. When they play against the best QBs they just do... everything.

When the Pats beat the Rams 13-3 in the Super Bowl a few years back they copied a weird zone look Vic Fangio (then the Bears DC) and another weird zone look Matt Patricia (then the Lion HC) had used with some success against the Rams. Then they'd mix in man coverage on 3rd and long. It was nothing like any game plan they'd used all season. The Pats defensive system is simply any and all systems whenever they're called for. What separates Belichick from other coaches is his ability to teach all those systems, and to find players with the intelligence and work ethic to learn it all week after week. This is why some players hate it in New England, while others find it endlessly engaging.

Bill Belichick has been coach of the year three times. Three. He should be an absolute shoe in this year, but that is criminal.

How do the Vikings look so good and the Steelers look so awful? Are these teams just this streaky?

Who cares. Just enjoy the beat down they're giving the Steelers and Big Ben. And the Tomlin press conference should be good if this keeps up.

The Steelers are well coached with deeply flawed roster that laid it all on the line to beat the Ravens on Sunday.
The Vikings have a very good roster, but are... uh.... under-coached. They also have a QB with a special knack for losing to good teams.

Good catch by Claypool but holy shit you are claiming a 1st down and celebrating on a 1st down conversion with the clock running?!? Run that ball back to the refs!

A comfortable lead; has there ever been one in the Mike Zimmer era? Doesn't feel like it.

Things going around that Demaryius Thomas died. 33yo. No other deets just yet. Very sad if so. Seems like he overcame a lot in life, so to end so early would be just that much more tragic.

Looks to be true from a few sources.
TMZ reported: Police tell us they found Thomas deceased in his Roswell, GA home Thursday night. Cops tell us preliminary reports suggest the death stemmed from a medical issue. They also tell us there are currently no indications that foul play was involved.

That is sad. All over the news here this morning. Guy somehow rose above his mom going to prison when he was 11, made it into Tech and won a Super Bowl. Sad stuff for such a young guy.

RIP - DT was a special player, one of the few guys in the league who could take it the distance on every play.
The overtime pass from Tebow was legendary, and I still have never seen a bar erupt like that for a single sports moment.

Raise your hand if you forgot that Tim Tebow won a playoff game in the NFL.

My Trumper relatives in Jacksonville still think he was great and didn’t get a fair shot, probably because of his faith. They wanted him on the Jaguars and still think he can play. 🤷

NFL teams would start JFC himself at QB if he had good mechanics.

    Tebow did not.

Browns are torching the Ravens. And speaking of torching, Melanie Collins is on the sidelines.
