the office is vaxxed, but, out of respect for our clients, who may have unvaxxed kids or family that may be susceptible to infection, we're still masking for client meetings

i think our personal threshold for uninhibited public interaction is still out there until a majority of the population is actually fully vaxxed

personally & socially, we're seeing friends, but not going to restaurants and limiting store trips

I said likely-hood of being HOSPITALIZED from a car accident is far greater than the likelihood of a fully vaccinated person requiring hospitalization from COVID. Over 2 million people a year are injured in car accidents a year, well over 200k have to be hospitalized and over 40k die. Out of the 100million+ fully vaccinated Americans less than 1000 have been hospitalized. Orders of magnitude less than car accidents.

If 40k fully vaccinated Americans die from COVID in the next year it would be beyond shocking. 40k unVaxed dieing is nearly guaranteed though. In fact lets make a bet. Over the next year will more fully Vaccinated Americans be hospitalized from COVID or car accidents? Bet 1 ETH?
They should start separating the deaths into vaccinated and unvaccinated.

We will have no choice but to take this approach in the near future, especially once kids can get vaxxed. There is simply no other way we can achieve herd immunity given the number of crazy anti-vax folks out there. They can roll the dice and take the old fashioned antibody route.

Prominent conspiracy folks in my area are using this as another example to push their theory (and agenda) that this is nothing more than the government controlling society.

That's an excellent idea. Last I saw it was about 80 total. Out of 100,000,000+ vaccinated. For comparison that's about how many unvaccinated people die from this thing in 2 hours. If everybody got vaccinated this thing would go from the #3 cause of death in a year to less likely than dieing from a fall in the shower.

    The future is here.

At this point I have very little concern about my kids getting COVID and having negative effects. I will get them vaccinated as soon as possible. Itís not unlikely they will get it because they have been in daycare for the last year and I imagine that most parents will be relaxing their behavior. We have already seen a cold for both kids in the last month. (Or COVID? Who knows...)

I will continue to follow the science. CDC says I as a vaccinated person donít need to mask in most situations, so that will become my norm.

Once the vaccines are out of EUA status I have no issue with mandated vaccines for lots of things like schools, college, workplaces, etc. I think Oregon is headed this way with workplace rules that will allow vaccinated workers to be unmasked but non vaccinated to continue masking.

I think your missing the point.

Enforcement is now foisted onto the business owner.

The same business owners that the government fucked over this past year. The government will also give zero tools or resources to help with enforcement, like say, a database to confirm or deny if vaccination occurred.

Guess we are on the honor system. We've had over a year to figure this out, and this is what we rolled with? LOL

Over 259 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the United States from December 14, 2020, through May 10, 2021. During this time, VAERS received 4,434 reports of death (0.0017%) among people who received a COVID-19 vaccine. CDC and FDA physicians review each case report of death as soon as notified and CDC requests medical records to further assess reports. A review of available clinical information, including death certificates, autopsy, and medical records has not established a causal link to COVID-19 vaccines. However, recent reports indicate a plausible causal relationship between the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine and a rare and serious adverse event—blood clots with low platelets—which has caused deaths. Get the latest safety information on the J&J/Janssen vaccine. CDC and FDA will continue to investigate reports of adverse events, including deaths, reported to VAERS.

That 259M and 4k includes a LOT of one dosers while my numbers are for FULLY VAXed. And does that say what they died of? I'm going to assume that a lot more that 4k people that have been Vaxed have died of any cause since like 8k people a die in this country of all causes.

You might want to do a little more research. I see people at the hospital almost daily that are COVID long haulers. Thereís a lot of younger people that started out healthy, got COVID and ďrecoveredĒ that are still struggling to get back to normal. Not just lung problems but issues with bowels, mental status, renal issues etc. a lot of these issues wonít resolve.

Example: If your heart muscle was damaged from covid (that youíve already ďrecoveredĒ from) and is now only functioning at half its normal efficiency there are decades of knowledge about how unlikely it is that it will heal back fully to normal. You donít need to study these people for years if you can see the damage already.

If you read closely, it includes all deaths reported that may or may have been caused by the vaccine

Isn't that what the vaccine does? You can still get it but are asymptomatic? That was my understanding anyway.

I suppose it depends on the threshold of the test. All I know is that the data the CDC released on breakthrough cases a couple weeks ago suggested a number that makes this Yankees story look suspicious. On the other hand, these guys are getting tested as a matter of course, which is something not happening in the general public. There's no reason for most asymptomatic people to ever get tested.
