wtb broken shimano caliper
anyone have a broken shimano caliper laying around? cracked a piston due to my own fault. No way I can source any calipers this year… the bigger piston from the new 4 piston brakes.
Anyone have one they’d be willing to get rid of? Else I try some sketchy ebay pistons?

I have an XT 8100 two piston caliper with one working piston that’s getting pulled tomorrow.
not sure if that matches the size you need. Feel free to send a measurement.

yeah considering going the eBay route, apparently they are abs plastic counter to the description and people have run into melting issues.
some say ABS, some say ceramic, but they all look identical and cost about the same, so would need to roll the dice.
I'll measure the piston. tailwind, my guess is it'll be the same as your XT set, but let me make sure.

Paging kidwoo....pretty sure I recall him posting on Ridemonkey that he's used the rando ebay Shimano pistons and he's not died yet from brake failure.

wtb broken shimano caliper
I’ve got a Deore 6100 4-piston front caliper with one borked piston. The other 3 look fine. I’d be happy to get it out of my garage.

gladly take it! I'm pretty sure mX120 line all have the same size pistons.

if that doesn't work, and someone actually has some experience with random pistons working, then that's a pretty easy route to go as well.
Thanks B.

Huge thanks to Falcon3.
Ended up just drilling holes in other caliper to push the pistons out without doing any damange. Saved all spare sparts/working pistons and seals, so if anyone needs any particular part from a 4 piston shimano caliper (with the exception of the larger pistons themselves), hit me up.
great success:

nice work.
compressed air in the attachment usually pops the pistons right out too.

one of the pistons was blown. so not enough pressure to blow out the rest. tried it with it in half but too many things to plug and figured fuck it.
