It’s a “shaded” windshield. Slightly tinted up top. And it doesn’t cost extra.
I don’t think you know what this product is by your reply.
But that’s kinda normal for you.

New windshields are terrifying. It's like there's nothing there!

Ha! I don't think I can remember having a windshield last long enough to be that badly pitted. Winters and pea-sized road 'sand' means I am paying my comp deductible at least every 3 winters, more often after 2. But ya, if the windshield is compromised either from cracks/chips, or from pitting, then it's time to buck up for replacement. Damn near the second most important safety feature of a vehicle after the tires/brakes system.

Dammit!!! WE’RE NOT TALKing about rocks you morans!
I’m actually thinking these are micro bubbles more than pitting - caused by high energy particles from a distant supernova millions of years ago .... which explains the constant jibberish coming from my ass

..... seeing as I don’t live in a high dust and grit environment
    Commencing replacement

And how fast do these microbubbles form? I've never noticed such imperfections until at least on a (once) 5 yr old windshield, and even then they were pretty minor compared to the other more physical damage. Is it more a degradation of the safetyglass composite?

Don't they give little tiny drops of milk?

Now we’re talking’ ..... my wind shield is full of teeny exploding noses
The possibility of the safety composite degrading kind of makes sense

Ok, but, like, does creating a windshield cause tunneling to an identical windshield not otherwise connected in space and time? Because I have those wiper defrosters and I'm sure it ads to replacement cost. Don't think it's acoustic, but why not?

On my Subaru the electric heated windshield was only $15 more than the unheated.

Wow. I guess all the invisible particles from warp travel have pitted my windshield, too.
Unless, as I've learned living in the desert, it's just because we have a consistent west wind.
Old school desert pro tip: Park your vehicle with the ass to the wind or the tiny, fine sand neutrinos blowing around will pit your windshield something fierce.
