I knew an old guy, in his late 80's at the time, a farmer all his life, he was eaten up by arthritis in his old age. His wife talked him into taking a trip to Greece. When I asked him how it was, he growled, "God damed country is nuthin' but stairs."
So I guess if you like stairs you'll have a blast.

Naxos and ikaria are nice island wise.
Meteora for monastery awesomeness.
And the norwestern mountains near the Albanian border are pretty wild, spectacular and remote as far as Europe goes. It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

Someone told me the Olympic venues from 2004 are in worse shape than the venues from 2nd century B.C.

I saw a documentary on former Olympic venues on Discovery or some such shit during the pandemic and the ruins of the 04 Athens games were truly depressing to look at.
They didn't mention anything about a duck with a potato jammed in it though.I still call it The Jake.

When we were in Greece many years ago we enjoyed Crete, Santorini, Naxos, Amorgos. Santorini in particular was great in the morning and evening, not so great during the day when the cruise ships vomited out their passengers, and the cruise passengers only get to the main town on all the islands.
2 full days minimum in Athens. My friend who married a Greek, her MIL still lives there, prefers the Peloponnese but I don't know any particular places.
We've only been once but one of our best trips. The best English speakers in Europe (including the Brits). One of our memories is hiking on Naxos as school let out and a little girl maybe 8 ran up to us and immediately started showing off her English--"How are you." What is your name", etc etc. We were charmed.

Big fan of Crete: beaches, mountains, Samaria gorge, different feel from other islands. We stayed right off the water in touristy/old town part of Chania.
Also had a great time on Paros. Santorini is what it is, had a great time but don't need to go back.
We gave Athens the 48hr sightseeing blitz and "saw" it, but didn't really experience the modern city. I'd like to go back because I think there's a lot more there culturally, beyond the history, grit and grime. It is ugly af though.

At the end of our trip, we unintentionally got up to the Acropolis in time to watch the Greek army raising the flag in the morning. That was kind of a cool experience after getting burned out on Greek ruins. Food and wine were great and inexpensive.
Oh, I registered our trip with the US State Department and received a warning about civil unrest and a general strike the night before we departed. It was kind of helpful in getting to the airport before things heated up the next day in Athens.

My sister-in-law lives on Spetses, which is a small saronic or Peloponnese island ( island southeast east of Athens). Mostly second homes for rich Athenians. She owns a restaurant. As of last weekend, everything was still shutdown, but the weather and the water have been wonderful. No cars on island. Access by boat (or bus from Athens then boat). It is definitely worth the trip. It is much more relaxing than the Aegean islands (Mykonos, Sardinia, Paros, etc) and just as beautiful. Check it out
