Took them 5 hours to replace my ascending aorta and aortic valve and bypass 3 coronary arteries--I could have skied at 2 months but the surgeon said 3 so I waited. But they were doing that 30 years ago, in the 60's actually. 2 hours is pretty quick.

Restaurants in Sacramento have sure gotten better; Truckee not so much--our favorites have been around for a while.

This will likely be an unpopular opinion in a forum of grumpy dotards, but, from what I've seen, kids are better. My kids and their friends are so much better than I and my friends were at their age. And I've seen articles about how, statistically, kids these days drink less, smoke less, get pregnant less, bully less, and commit fewer violent crimes than we, the children of the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

I think society has gotten better at many aspects of raising children. A HUGE change is removing corporal punishment and violence from a child’s life. Look at the shit they used to do to kids 50 years ago, then look back 100 years ago. It was torture. No wonder you ended up with cruel, fucked up societies.

I have one...road tripping late at night. Used to be if that lonely gas station was closed 50 miles from anywhere, you slept in the car (if you didn’t have a big enough gas can) until it opened.
Swipe at the pump has alleviated some mileage anxiety.
