I attribute my kids behavior (straight A's, reasonable interactions, cleaning up after themselves) to the hospital mixups.

pfft. buncha pansies.
nah I don't disagree with your premise really. They've swapped some problems for other problems though. But yeah less likely to steal your car or make your daughter pregnant no doubt.

I'm one of 5 kids, so when I was my daughter's age I was on my own in lots of ways. As an only child, my daughter gets far more attention paid to her and her daily life. In some respects this is a negative, she's not as self-sufficient as I was at her age, but yeah, on balance it's a positive. And yes, way less "phobic" infiltrating her brain.

You're not wrong. Whenever I hear a boomer tell me about "kids these days!" I have to remind them that in reality kids are WAY better behaved than my generation was and even their own. Hell, teens are actually SO much better these days that sometimes I'm like "WTF is wrong with you? Rebel a little!" They've almost gone to the other extreme. Way more likely to listen to authority and behave than we ever were. As a kid who loved the punk scene and stuff, it almost makes me sad. Being a teen is the best time in your life to give the world the middle finger and its like they've had that sense of rebellious teen spirit beaten out of them. I know it's a good thing and I really actually have a lot of respect for the youth of today cuz of it, but it just seems odd to me.

When I think of grumpy dotard I think of parents as a group who once bragged about acting out bragging about their kids being straight arrows.

There's way less repression now. Remember no jeans, no pants for girls, no hair below the collar? No draft.
That and there's way more entertainment via media, online games, movies, etc, so fewer bored youth.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

kids today dont get the credit the deserve most of them are pretty stand up and good
have this one client, I show up to his house and his 16 year old kid is hanging out there with some buddies on a regular basis, they drive up from denver to ski hot tub and hang does it a couple times a week with no supervision, parents says it's totally fine, kids a good kid
WTF? woulda never happened when I was a kid because we would have been drunk and high at least one friend would be trashing something and at least one girl would have gotten pregnant in the hot tub
and when they can shut you down for a couple hours and put a fake aorta in then two months of down time and then you get back at it that shit wouldn't have happened 30 years ago something to look forward to with no worries

This is no joke. And it’s not just that LEDs save electricity and last for years. I have a flashlight in my car that puts out 2,000 lumens. It’s like a car’s high beam. I think the big 3 D battery mag lights from the old days did like 65 lumens. It wasn’t expensive either.
