I'm a vegetarian, so that's basically the reason. Margarita pizzas are basically cheese pizzas, but a bit fancier (and often better). If a place has decent fried eggplant, I'll order that. I rarely think that mushrooms are that good of an add. I do definitely miss pepperoni pizza though. It's one of the perfect foods in my mind.

I have a friend who orders his pizza sans cheese.

Back when I worked in the pizza parlor, we had a couple of regular customers who did this. Cheese allergies or lactose intolerance.

Vegans too. I've had a few good/decent vegan pizzas.

Got friends crashing at my place tonight, I think I'm gonna pick up one of these tonight. $20-25 for an 18" pizza, a bit more for the square Sicilian.

its called a tomato pie and they are pretty popular "upstate". youll find places that just have them pre cut wrapped in saran wrap and you eat it room temp. The crust and the sauce are really the most important parts anyway...if either of those suck, its a fail.

As a Chicago guy. I never had tomato pie most of my life. But holy shit is that good. Cold. Leftover. A sales rep used to bring it by once a month. Room temp. Four hours old. But Shazam damn good eats.

Is it any better hot? Never had that.

Also- in the classic New Haven places like Pepe's, it used to be that if you didn't ask for mozzarella they'd ask "with moots too?", as traditionally their tomato pie apizzas were served with just light pecorino shavings. Now they assume you want mozz, but plenty still order it specifically without

How much do you pay for pizza?

Oddly no. Cold and fresh. Warming it morphs it into an unintended form.

I always go no cheese on pizza. It’s all about the dough and sauce and quality of toppings. I have a milk allergy but if I wake up tomorrow absent an allergy I doubt I’d ever get cheese on a pizza again by choice. Through the looking glass.

Pepe's was my absolute favorite pizza place pre-vegetarianism. The greasiness and char and its interaction with the pepperoni was just perfect. Modern and it's fried eggplant were the closest substitute afterwards, but it was never quite the same.

Tomato pie is big in certain communities here in PA too.....Best served soft/room temp/sitting for a few hours.

College teammate’s family from Montgomery Co., PA would bring us “trays” of tomato pie on game day Saturdays to demolish at post game family tailgates or bus trips home. Seeing that family with that stack of pies was a godsend after a long game. (plus he had hot sisters)

My college pizza joint has the Mikey's Special, where the cheese went on first and then the sauce. It was surprisingly different and awesome.

But no cheese? I don't know what that is but it isn't pizza. That's like restaurant bread service at best.
