Jung’s drug career began in 1965 when he began flying loads of marijuana from Mexico to California. He met Colombian drug kingpin Carlos Lehder Rivas, a founder of the Medellin cartel, in federal prison in 1974. Lehder became his connection to cocaine smuggling; Jung later recruited former Chatham Town Counsel Barry Kane to fly cocaine to the United States from Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar’s ranch.
Jung and his second wife were living in a rented home on a beach in Eastham in 1980 when state police arrested him for dealing cocaine.
Three years later Jung was arrested again for cocaine dealing, this time in a Kingston motel.
Jung was sentenced to state prison as a result of that case, but in short order he persuaded corrections officials to let him serve his time at a forestry camp in Plymouth.
One day in 1985 he walked away, fleeing to Florida where he was once again caught selling drugs. He ended up in federal prison but was released early in exchange for testifying against Lehder.
In 1994, broke and drinking heavily, Jung set up a smuggling ring that brought large loads of marijuana from Mexico to Cape Cod, prosecutors said.
The Cape Cod Drug Task Force raided his East Dennis home in 1995.
Four other men — including three from Cape Cod — were sentenced in 1996 to terms ranging from 37 months to five years for their roles in the drug conspiracy.Last edited by willywhit; 05-07-2021 at 11:30 AM.

The book was much better than the movie. I'm from the next town over, and there would be articles about him in the local paper. What a life story. There are a few somewhat recent interviews on the you tubes too.
