I think the problem is your ski buying strategy-- If they are cheap and well-regarded, buy them and if they don't work out for you, sell them for what you bought them for.

or, offer a shop tech that likes to nerd out on skis a sixer to ski with you on their lunch break, and then ask them your question.

Yep, find skis that you think you might like at a great deal. If you don't like them after skiing, sell them for close to what you paid. The difference is your demo fee.

He was. And a really good skier for his age too
About a month later we were out on a warm day and I was sporting some Marker spring weight gloves with the 2002 SLC Olympics logos embroidered on. Bought them on deep discount when I was in SLC that spring.

Kid sez “Where did you get those gloves?”
“I got them when I was at the Olympics”
    “You were in the Olympics?”
“Yup - it was back when I used to be good”.

wait, what's wrong with booting up in the lodge? Don't you ski silver, I thought booting up in the gondi or the lodge at the top of the gondi was standard practice there, or at least that's how I always rolled at that resort. 30 minute gondi ride is gonna be good for something.

I boot up in the lodge every chance I get and I'm a better skier than you.

bad skiers don't need to tell people they suck at skiing. it becomes obvious from the way they walk in ski boots, carry skis, talk about skiing, what skis they're skiing on, etc. A good skier can tell you suck just on appearances, you don't need to tell anyone.

It really is amazing how you can somewhat accurately tell how someone skis based on the way they stroll across the parking lot or village (while geared up).
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.
