Leavenworth WA
What would a rural town in the west be without tweakers, weird hillbillies, rednecks, Mexicans and ranchers? This is what it’s like, I like the diversity and backwardness contrast with new comers and transplants. I don’t want some imaginary mountain town utopia, by the time you get there the place is already dead.

Sprinters, MILF remote workers in yoga pants, yuppies, boomer retirees, and unaffordable real estate?

Seriously. A house next door to Walmart sold in 2018 for 369k. Today pending for 520k. Neighbors with Walmart. And a busy street to boot. Way to get out while you can afkals.

I don’t really notice anything different other than stupid housing prices

Enjoy it while it lasts. I see the Wenatchee to Leavenworth corridor as one of the fastest growing places in the US in the next 20 years (percentage wise). The recreational opportunities are on par or better than Bend and the weather is similar. The biggest difference between Bend and Wenatchee is you get good mountain views from Bend where as the mountains are more obscured in Wenatchee. And Washington is more desirable for work from home tech bros than Oregon because of the no income tax. Right now Wenatchee is at 34,000 and Bend is pushing 100,000. I can see their populations being similar in the not too distant future.

I think Bend has more room housing wise. Price wise for what you get I’d say similar already if you are paying $520k to live next to Wal Mart. And I love Wal Mart.

Beautiful 800k house on a busy corner nearby with a blueprint copy machine in one of the photos. It is what it is.
