yes a podcast about punk rock by someone who lived through it would be rad! The No Dog guys were born in the 90's I think.

When are people going to only start listing the podcasts they think we all should be listening to?

I sometimes listen to podcasts when working on the property by myself (except when running a chainsaw), when doing dishes and buttoning up the house for the night, and on longer family drives. Usually at 1.5 speed unless it’s music related.

I'll listen to the NYT's Daily in the morning while making breakfast. I wouldn't consider it really a podcast though, more of a news show. Great thing about podcasts is the ability to skip 15/30 seconds ahead and avoid the commercials. It's easy to listen to during breakfast because I couldn't be bothered to read anything at that point.

I always enjoyed listening to the radio in the car. This is just the changing form of these types of broadcasts. Some people prefer the silence of a drive, others prefer music, and some like talk radio. I'll take a mix of it.

I’m addicted: the daily, the journal, planet money, the indicator, freakonomics, gear30, pinkbike, invisibilia, armchair expert, smartless, how I built this, foundering, HBR idea cast, recipe club, revisionist history, the rewatchables, this American life, radiolab, song exploder, embedded, more perfect.

Since he's by far the most well-read person I've ever met and smart and opinionated as fuck, it was pretty awesome.

Him and his producer had a big falling-out over a girl right as they were getting some interest in taking it to a bigger stage and the wheels fell off, I keep telling him he should bring it back as a podcast but he's satisfied drinking his bourbon at home and ranting on FB now.
Sounds like he might enjoy In our time by Melvyn Bragg. It's the only podcast/show I've heard with an associated reading list for each episode.

I use the standard google one but I'm not picky about it.

I've been burning through the revolutions podcast recently. Started with a couple Russian revolution episodes from a suggestion and decided to start at the beginning.

I use podcast addict. It does have ads, but they're not obnoxious. In the settings you can select either a small banner ad at the bottom of the app or a full screen pop up add on occasion. Or you can pay a small fee to purchase and get rid of the ads.

I realize that's not what you're looking for but for me the control over how to download and archive the podcasts is worth the unobtrusive small ad banner.

Thanks for the details about app ads. This is for my semi-communicative teen. He has not tried the apps mentioned. His apparent issue is the high volume of the ads compared to the volume of the podcast. It wakes him up.

Huberman Lab is simply incredible. It's almost insulting to call it a podcast, it's an upper-level college lecture series on physiology, neurobiology and endocrinology.

Interviews with ski hill managers and CEOs.

I found this guy when somebody recommended one of his with Lance Armstrong. Good stuff.

    And, Brockmire

Dylan used to do a show on Sirius called Theme Time Radio Hour, and all 100 or so episodes are now podcasts. I guess he hates Spotify, because you can only get one there, but, it's available elsewhere.

I just gave Stewart a third chance and, I give up. He insists on interviewing people with a few of his writers as some sort of team. They begin with this very unfunny banter among themselves that is just awful. Conan's podcast is very similar in that way, and I gave up on him for the same reason. But, Conan ditches the sidekicks once the interview starts, Stewart doesn't. Keeps them around for comic relief, I guess, but, they aren't funny, and that's not why I tuned in. His latest guest, a Harvard sociology professor was just really irritating, too. Was constantly telling me what the "truth" was.

Too bad, I like the guy, or, used to.

That said, I found an excellent podcast for anyone who enjoys rock and pop music history. The History of Rock Music in 500 Songs

    https://open.spotify.com/show/7KGhTD...urce=copy-link

As you can tell from the title, there is a ton of stuff here to wade through. He has done his research. Only up in the 100s at the moment. Pick your song, any song.

IT'S EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO KEEP BEING A CLOSED MINDED IGNORANT CUNT IF I LISTEN TO OTHERS WITH DIFFERING IDEAS AND OPINIONS. YEAH, FUCK PODCASTS. THEY'RE FOR THE EDUCATED.
Hey d-bag - here's something for you to think about: maybe (just maybe) not everybody here has their little panties in a wad 24/7 and flies into a rage whenever somebody disagrees with them. Maybe these same mags don't take this place uber-seriously. Maybe this even includes the vast majority of the people who post here as opposed to you and like 20 other thin-skinned douchebags. Just something to think about. -JER
