Looks like the bonfire vest at least holds the handle and probe in the bigger zip pocket. Agreed on the v being an interesting idea.

Oh you’re right! I saw them sticking up near the shoulders and thought they were just in sleeves not fully put away. I’m going to look hard at this vest.

    WTB - Sidecountry vest

The v cut seems like a snowboard specific thing…for sitting on the ground with your knees hunched up & waist fully folded

Does the vest have a separate belt or harness that keeps it on (not slipping over your shoulders) in a slide or tumble?
The v might be at odds with that sort of feature.

just checked again: looks like their prices bumped back up to $250.

I also reached out to Dakine earlier this year, they're expecting their poacher vest to be back in stock around mid-october
To the people that have a whatvest… any opinions on sizing?

There's an ogio flak jacket on ebay but dude wants big money. Has best offer option so maybe haggle with him. Shipping cost is stupid but maybe haggle on that too.

Very much looking for a M/L Dakine Poacher RAS (don’t need the RAS system though). I know a few places have them available for pre-order but I haven’t been convinced new ones will actually be produced this year.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

They don't mention the WARY brand on the fleabay listings, these. I have one loaded for work and one for fun, and like them a lot.

MTN / Ski Patrol Vest *** BLACK (M/L)
MTN / Ski Patrol Vest *** BLACK (XL)

Wish the front lower pockets were a little bigger (with gathered material around the sides like the TNF vest pockets), but that's my only gripe. Get the black version and black out the WARY logos with a permanent marker if you don't want people thinking you're patrol and asking you questions.

Or get the red version and hang out on the lodge sundeck chasing skirts.

Is wary back in business or is that just old stock?

Love my wary pack but it's showing its age.

Someone has dibs on a non-airbag TNF powder guide vest, S/M that I snatched up from Facebook. I'll put it up for grabs here if he passes. Alternatively, I would do a straight trade for a M/L version.

    Brand New.

Gotta be WARY old stock, they've been out of business for quite awhile.

Or get a patch and sew it over the Patrol-looking logo…I only have people ask me if I have an extra lighter now.

I do like the Wary and also agree with the small gripe that the front lower pockets could be bigger. But, for $105 on the EBay listing, it’s worth it IMO.

Nebulus Flotation was probably WARY's sister business (my WARY vests had Nebulus packing slips), but apparently it shut down in 2020.

Yep, I remember reading how they started.

They shipped me a pack at no cost to check out before I bought one.

And sent a box of fill kits when they closed down.

Ended up pulling the trigger on one of these even though i don't like the external shovel carry, and am not confident my 320cm probe will fit. doesnt look like the Poacher vest will come back into stock this year, and fuck paying $300 for one of these vests. Need to find a sweet patch now to make it clear im not patrol.

^ Laughed when I saw that patch, and immediately thought "yeah, lift line".

Can't remember if my probe is 300 or 320, but it barely fits. It would be fine if it stuck out the top of the zipper though, it's not going to fall out.

I reslly doubt any of the competition will be as well built as the "what vest". Very durable construction and attention to detail. I cant see mine wearing out anytime soon , despite me wanting to get one of their new versions. If you did have a problem wiyh one of their vests i bet she looks after you in short order. They were very personable in my correspondence with them. Similar to free the powder with hand written notes and thank yous, quick communication and shipping. I'd find it hard to buy any of the others. Itd seem like a step back

I've been thinking about a vest for awhile and just bought a WhatVest. Spendy, but what the hell, I like supporting small businesses when I can.

I just picked up the Wary vest on ebay. The seller sent me a 10% off offer so I bit... I'll let y'all know if the 320cm probe fits when it gets here. I have a millitary brat/boyscout patch collection to raid, not very cool but it'll do the job. I wish I still had my camo jacket from teenage dirtbag years to pull some patches off of.

I usually carry a 320 in my bc pack. I have a shorter 265 that I keep in my Wary vest with a little room to spare. Could fit 280 for sure, 300 maybe.
