It's a VW dune buggy (I don't think it's a Manx) on a MAN 6x6 chassis/camper, it's been popping up on FB recently with better pictures but this was the only one I could find at the time. The winch/ramp system he has is pretty ingenious and looks like it works well.

I get the GOTOS, I've been a cheap early adopter since the days I learned to drive with no support on the sand on my dad's lap as a 3 y/0, and I have a very capable rig, but if you are going to do it, this is how. And warning, that channel is a rabbit hole. You don't need much is what I say, besides balls, tools, brains, and oxford comma. And patience. I've gotten out of some serious shit.

This channel has cost me a lot of time. It makes me want to fly to Aus and rent a 4wd to do some of these tracks.

Only $277k. If you're gonna go ridiculous, you might as well go all in.

Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Forgot I didn't submit my find.
Baby stroller and a shovel on the top, I forgot if there was a jack too. Plus an animated heart LED thing that was only visible at night.Click image for larger version.

    Wow, that's cringe inducing.

Is that a suction cup roto pax? Lol.

I'm also trying to imagine what it would be like trying to get one of those recovery boards under the body kit... And getting it back out after you drove off of it.

EDIT: Just noticed the double wind fairing, the lower of which deflects air right up in to the bottom of the basket. Haha!

Can't swing a dead cat in the west without hitting a Max Trax.

Maybe when all the people who have never taken them off their racks decide they never really needed them, we can retro fit them into modular affordable housing and solve some real problems.

Well, it not parked at Whole Foods. So that should knock some points off. But that pic looks like a nice gravel path you could drive a Sonata up. So add those points back in.

Sonata probably couldn't make it up to there without some scrapage, but my beat-to-shit 2005 Outback managed, along with a shiny Q5 and a ragged early-80s Ford Falcon RV that some old pirate was hauling ass in. I was slackjawed watching the guy floor it up the next section with a large ditch across the road. Meth or balls of steel.

If I were Subaru, I'd film a commercial with that Taco and an Outback on that road. Then I'd sell a bunch of Subarus.

I finally got a photo of a local contender. Seen in Minden, NV. Amazingly, there was a female on the passenger seat.

Edit: I saw it later at Costco, so any hopes that they might have been heading out on an overlanding mission were dashed.

Has anyone ever seen a GOTOS shovel that has actually been used? I keep seeing them with the shiny black paint on the blade. I remember when being a poser was ghey
