For those contemplating travelling to Chile, a good forum with a real experience entering the country, on tripadvisor :

    https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopi..._21-Chile.html

Lots of questions on what the process is like for foreigners in this forum. I can’t speak to post 11/1, but just landed today. Hopefully it helps someone:

American citizen that flew Mexico City -> IAH -> Santiago. The only documents that were checked were my boarding ticket, negative PCR test, and the cl19 form. They didn’t ask for proof of health insurance (either pre-boarding or upon entry to Chile) or proof I went through the external vaccine process.

Upon landing, I was out of the airport in one hour. Highly efficient. You are escorted to mobility pass kiosks where they ask for your cl19 code. I think they “activate” your mobility pass if you’re a foreigner here. Nobody spoke English, so it was pretty hard to get by. You’ll then receive three emails about quarantine measures and daily self reporting. WiFi was spotting, so recommend if you have a foreign phone, to buy a day pass for day or landing.

From there, you go to a PCR station. You do not need to pay for it. Enter your passport information, get a ticket, wait in line. Note: it’s nasal and throat so you probably don’t want to eat or drink for an hour before.

Once done, they give you a card which indicates you’ve completed the steps. From there, fill out a customs form and walk through immigration and then customs.

Really impressed by how efficient the whole process was. Nobody is escorting you anywhere once you leave customs, so you can pick up cash, grab a coffee, etc before leaving.

Not sure how long the PCR results take, but your form indicates how to get the results.

    Good luck!
PCR turnaround is 12-36 hours, generally same day.

I am headed to Torres del Paine in 2 weeks!

And I got this announcement today from one of my service providers, regarding the new Chile entry rules. Of note for folks chomping at the bit for adventure travel, "If you are planning to travel to Magallanes Region (Torres del Paine National Park, Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, Navarino) be aware that you will need to have a negative PCR test, taken no longer than 72 hours before arriving in the Region.
If you are travelling with kids, please be aware that from 6 years old they must have a complete vaccination program validated before entering Chile.
As of January 1st, 2022 the following land border crossings will reopen : Paso los Libertadores (Portillo), Cardenal Samoré (Antillanca) and Río Don Guillermo (which will allow travelers to do the Torres del Paine (Chile) - El Calafate (Argentina) overland trip."

More importantly for some, entry with authorized full vax proof (boostered), means no tramites upon arrival.

    Updated Nov. 19th, 2021

    Dear Traveler,

We are very happy to announce that as of December 1, 2021, travelers with a full vaccination program and a booster dose (no more than 6 months) will be able to enter the country without doing a PCR upon arrival or any other mandatory quarantine. Children under 6 years of age can enter Chile without having to quarantine themselves as long as they have a negative PCR.
The following land border crossings will be reopened: Chacalluta, Colchane, and Pino Hachado.

Together with the above mentioned, it is mandatory to comply with the following requirements:
To have a negative PCR, taken 72 hours before departure to Chile, counting from the last boarding on flights with stopovers.
To have received a complete vaccination program, which you must validate before entering Chile at mevacuno.gob.cl to obtain a mobility pass, which becomes active after the mandatory confinement. Vaccines must be those approved by the Chilean Public Health Institute (ISP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Please be aware that validation could take up to 30 days and you have to complete this not before 45 days before your arrival to Chile. Check here steps to follow.
Fill out the “Affidavit for Travelers” form online, up to 48 hours before departure, in which you will provide your contact and health information and your travel details. This form will issue a QR code as a means of verification. This form is available at www.c19.cl
To have medical insurance with a minimum coverage of USD 30,000, which covers any expenses caused by Covid-19.
For 14 days after you enter the country, you will receive a follow-up form sent daily to your email. Timely completion is mandatory.
Foreigners as well as Chilean and Non-Chilean residents may enter Chile by air through the airports in Santiago, Iquique and Antofagasta.
If you are planning to travel to Magallanes Region (Torres del Paine National Park, Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, Navarino) be aware that you will need to have a negative PCR test, taken no longer than 72 hours before arriving in the Region.

The political center has shrunk, while the far right expanded. Ar least the young communist leaguer (Boric) didn’t get the most votes in the first round, but now it’s him vs the hard right flame (Kast) in round two (Dec 19). Much as Kast is far from the ideal candidate for me and many others, he talks the most sense of the two. The wild card is where the other 46% are going to lean, of which 13% went to the unconventional Parisi dude who ran his campaign from his cell phone in the USA. God knows where his protest votes will go.

The election for both houses also went right, which I think reflects the pendulum having swung away from the “re-foundational” tone of the constitutional convention, which is stacked with lefties and a kaleidoscope of independents. The latter is 5 months into its 9 month deliberation, with no constitution in sight.

Oops. Omicron paranoia has just reversed most of the relaxing of restrictions indicated a week ago. So, travel still permitted but no special exemptions for those with boosters and the land border openings are not going to happen.
