I was deep in the hip-hop scene when NF was all the rage. I still remember seeing Black Sheep and I believe NBN rocking the Face when they came out west for shows in the early 90s..

FWIW, I rock some OG Flylow cargos.
    Burnt watermelon color.
Even got props from the owners/designers who saw me on the hill and were stoked to see an original pair of their pants still in circulation.

But back to current steeze: what about NW3TK?

    PS
We need a Cloudveil and/or Predator Wear (I think theynwere the brand that had bright colors, sewn in back protectors, and Transformer artwork?) revival...

TNF is still the rage in Cincinnati. So many folks there wearing it, and a few willing to talk about how great it was.

Arcteryx used to do that. So did cloudveil. Fuck them both.
You realize Stio is just Cloudveil 2.0? With less emphasis on tech and more on Wilson mom style.

All kidding aside, I know they get a bad rap for buying and ruining small brands, but I needed a puffy vest this winter when it was really cold and I couldn’t stomach the price of kore outdoor brands. I saw a Columbia puffy vest at the local hardware, hunting, workwear store, it was less than $50. It’s a great piece of gear, Omniheat really works and the pockets are really nice. Two exterior fleece lined pockets and two huge interior stuff pockets.

It’s a shame they wouldn’t let Steve buy cloudveil back. It could have been great again.

I can give two shits about $100 shorts or $75 T-shirts. The ski gear is awesome.

Ps. I still remember my first gore Tex shell
It was tnf. And quality was amazing.
I still have a tnf insulated ski jacket I can’t bear to let go even though I never wear it. Both those items are from the day when they spent money to have hundreds of logos on the inner lining. Shit was good then.
Not that I need custom logo liners. But Patagonia used to do the same thing years ago.

Pps. Arcteyrx sucks ass. I have three fleece jackets where the hem blew up. They just heat taped it on. No stitching used. And it only works a few years. When they were stitched in Vancouver it was bomber.

The BOP volunteer jacket a few years ago was a Columbia OH. It is actually a pretty nice jacket that I wear out on the hill on some colder days.

This thread isn’t for posers who wear Columbia.

Didn’t SNL do a skit on the ubiquitous Patagonia fleece vest?

I have a couple quarter zip fleece pullovers from the dead bird company that are probably 10 years old that I wear 2-3 times per week to work in the winter. Just starting to show wear on the hems. Good to know I shouldn’t go replace them from the same company.

Which brings up a question I have had on my mind. Who is still making semi stylish, long lasting clothing? I hate buying clothes so it’s been a few years since I’ve bought anything new. Seems like there is a lot of expensive, lightweight high performance stuff out there that doesn’t last or just cheap fast fashion shir and my trust fund can’t handle spending hundreds or thousands a year on throwaway clothing.

I outfit my wife and daughter in Omniheat. It’s great. That mixed with some hand warmers and never get any of the “I’m cold” bullshit.

Not a chance I could wear omniheat while doing any activities though, maybe walking the dog.

It’s a bit warmer on the west side of the crest though.

That was kinda funny. I'm assuming that was supposed to be a bit tongue in cheek.
    Arc'teryx isn't AmerSports anymore?

Patagonia is about as long lasting as you can get with the lifetime warranty. Think long term.

I can only wear it skiing on really cold days when I’m not hiking. I usually wear the vest on the drive up and lounging in the lot. I can literally feel my core heating up right after I put it on. For those cold folks out there they should give it a shot.

Not with K2, but supposedly some dude in China who wants to capitalize on the upcoming winter Olympics and the explosion in 1.2 billion Chinese wanting to become winter sports enthusiasts. Since the buy out a fair bit of production has moved back to Vancouver to get around the bat flu shortages. If you can get your hands on the dead bird LEAF gear, do it, it is bomb proof (literally)

Nothing to do with K2. The new owner of Amer is Anta Sports from Jinjiang, China. They are huge in Asia even if you've never heard of them, mostly making basketball shoes and such. So far they've left the management of companies like Arc'teryx, Atomic, Salomon, Armada, Suunto, Louisville Slugger, etc. in place and haven't fucked shit up much, but the first few years in Hong Kong after the lease expiration were business as usual, too.

The Hot shit is penguin. Swiss company (chocolate, cheese or watches anyone? If the Swiss do something, they do it right), still core and I get them for free because all the rich college girls want to be me.

What is LEAF and why would I want to drop a bomb on it?

Law Enforcement / Armed Forces gear. Super spendy stuff made of somewhat more rugged materials with muted colors/camo and features for special forces/swat etc. Patagonia, 5.11, OR, and Salomon (amongst others) also have LEAF lines but Arcteryx is the most expensive of the popular retail brands that I’ve seen.

Not sure what’s more cringe in that front row
The uptight white old dude trying to fit in?
Or the too much boot too long nails chick nodding off after the heroin kicks in?

Forgot to add it’s also what dentists and lawyers wear for their once a year guided hunting trips.

Yes you can get that full camo gore tex jacket and pants you were enquiring about. Sorry I don’t see ghillie suits - you’ll have to make your own like a legit sniper.
