Street cred: Patagucci out, Arc’teryx up

A fashion tip for baller wanna-bes. “Arc’teryx on me/No we don’t run no Patagonia.”

Gotta keep up. Whatever happened to The North Face as cool shit street wear?

Funny thing though, my buddy shows up head to toe in North Face the other day (gets comp prices as an instructor), and I said, damn, that is nice shit you're wearing. They really upped their game.

It's an interesting void in the market.

NF now a commodity with its own outlet stores.

Arc now owned by Chinese PE firm and designers are quitting in droves according to a friend who used to be a designer there.

    Who's going to actually innovate?

    Thank god for stio.

    It’s old school

Hope it stays that way. Don’t think Steve will sell out again. But if it becomes urban hip what will I wear?

Vintage is where it's at. My darling daughter scored a pristine 1980's Sierra Design puffy from a thrift store. She was pissed that she had to pay a whole $20 for it. She'll wear that before any dead bird shit.

Stio is fine but not exactly pushing the design or development envelope.

So, nothing changed in a decade?

edit: or in the case of arc’teryx they have “the same” jackets running since Bill Clinton was President.

I got an arcteryx rain shell this spring as a gift. Nice shell but I sure wish it didn't have that logo on it, I'm not looking to pimp their stuff or try to get credit for wearing it

I was in a store today in an upscale area and it was full of Helly Hansen gear, maybe they're next.

Exactly. The designs are obvious. And well established. Just put the money into the best cloth and zippers. That’s all I need.

Arcteryx used to do that. So did cloudveil. Fuck them both.

So is this Stio stuff nice? I keep getting blown up on my Instagram. It seems nice enough but it is not cheap. $100+ shorts they better be cupping the balls or something.

Heh. Everything I’ve bought has been at least 30% off. Still expensive. But quality.

Just ski wear really. Plus some town coats. I don’t need $100 shorts to cup my balls.
