New Ski for Wife, Looking for Recommendations

Okay, so my wife is difficult to buy equipment for. She's an advanced/expert skier, can ski pretty much anything short of dropping cliffs. She likes steep, crud, ice not so much, powder, etc. The problem is that she's small. 5'3", 85 lbs.

Right now, she's on Head Total Joy 148cm, 84 wide and Armada Triple J (junior ski) 155 cm, 112 wide. She loves her Heads for carvey groomers and the JJJ in true powder but not on groomers. What she wants now is something as an in between ski for ungroomed crud, etc. I'm looking for something in the 90-95 width right around 150 cm, keeping in mind she's the size of a child who skis well but not too aggressively.

    Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

I looked at this and think it's a great thought but she's concerned about the length. She really wants to stay at 150 or less. Otherwise, great fit for what we're looking for. I'd really like this for her but in a kid's ski that meets the length criteria.

Thanks. Will look at the 151 and see if that's a consideration.

Moment Sierra 152cm (91mm underfoot in that size)
My wife loves hers in the 162cm (she's 5'8"). Triple camber so they hold well on the groomers, but they're Moments so they slay the chop.

Thanks. We do have that on the list of 'high interest'. That's probably the front runner right now, pending finding something we're not thinking of.

Praxis GPO or GPO jr. 155 or 153. Or maybe an MVP 94 in 154 if she really wants to be down in that sub 100 mm waist.

Interesting looking ski. However, she really would like to stay 150 or less (151 Santa Ana is kind of bugging her). She's really happy with her 148 Heads and had some K2's that were 153 that she thinks were a little longer than she liked. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Looks like they have stock of the 143 too.

This is kind of an interesting thread to me, I never think about this size ski but it's gotta be interesting to design for when you might have small women like your wife who can ski well and kids of various sizes and skills. And I bet the designers are likely too big to really be able to get on a ski and get a feel for them.

Are the volkl Jr skis at all comparable to the adult ones? I know there are kids versions of the mantra and katana that are in that length range and super cheap.

Yeah, saw that, too but I think that's getting too short.

The thing about it is that these are kid sized skis and I would guess it's easier with kids since they outgrow them so quickly and their skills are increasing pretty fast. A ski that suits them well at the beginning of the season isn't that good for them by the end of the season but, not that big of a deal since they're probably getting new equipment just about every year due to growth. With an adult that has pretty static skills and size, finding something they're going to want to ski for 3 or 4 years is more difficult, partly because they're adults and crankier if they don't like what they're on.

The kids Mantra kind of fits but it's 86 in the waist. We're looking for something 90+, somewhere around 95. The Katana looks to be a full rocker which is not the target. Thanks!

Faction has your back - 94 under foot and 145cm:

And I know it's wider than you want, but in case she someday wants a powder ski, these come in a 145cm...

Hit up Ptex1 and see if he has any Kore Team Jrs left. He flexed em for me and reported that they had a lot of substance, I steered away from them for my teen boys because I don't think they have the skill for them, but your wife probably does.
    https://www.head.com/en/kore-team-25.html 144 and 153 lengths?

The Faction looks interesting but 145 is possibly too short. That ski in a 150 would be really close to what we're looking for. As I mentioned, she's tough to find equipment for; kind of picky on getting the right length. She likes her 148 (which I think is too short) but doesn't want to go 153 as she thinks it's too long.

As for the Sir Francis Bacon, she's happy with her Armadas for powder so that's not really something I need to deal with right now. Even though they're 155, with the rocker, it skis shorter than it is.
