    ha, thanks buzz!!

not sure if I'm ready for this - last night was fkn rough - but the little guy is cute as can be, and him and mom are both doing super well.

5lbs7oz, delivered vaginally after 13 hours of labor (induced only by cervidil) & probably 3 minutes of pushing (maybe less honestly). This wasn't the birth we wanted originally, but stbmrstgapp's OB fucked up her blood pressure medication which caused some issues with the placenta & made baby small for his age, thus necessitating induction. at this point we're just glad that everything went well and everyone is happy.

No one is ready. It's roughest at the start and gets better. Just remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that you're a team. If you're a complete mess for the next 6 months - totally normal

Home and in your own place? Since my wife was in the hospital for three days, it didn't sink in for me until that first night when the kid woke us up an hour after we went to sleep.

Fatherhood anonymous; an open discussion on being a dad.

Very cool! Congrats tgapp and the whole family. Agree no one is ever ready to be thrown into parenthood, I’m still shocked they let us just walk out the door with a small human.

Congrats! Yeah, it's surreal for sure and takes a few days or years to feel more normal.

Glad it popped out ok. Sounds like preeclampsia maybe? We had a fun experience with out third in regards to that.

Listen, I didn't want to scare him too bad. I feel the "mess" part becomes more cerebral over time as opposed to the in-your-face nature of newborns needing all kinds of help while you're trying to sort through all these new emotions that you don't know what to do with.

    Awesome cake.

    Congratulations! Happy birthdays.

My mom’s doctor said— “If you’re worried about being a good mom, you’ll be a good mom.” Turned out to be true.

Mine are 9, 12, and 15. The neighborhood around me is the same generation and I miss the sound of crying babies now.

Enjoy those cuddles. It goes by faster every year. Stoked for you.

I’ve always said that my life became easier the day I became a father because the daily grind wasn’t about me anymore.

Congratulations! Happy you are all healthy. Repeating the days are long and years short cliche.

Start reading and talking to the little one. The more words they hear, the more they absorb. Don’t worry about kid stuff yet, just whatever you are reading. Kindergarten literacy gaps start at home. Read. Read. Read.

Zippered/magnetic onesies are your friend. Buttons and snaps suck for those middle of the night diaper changes. Sleep when baby sleeps.

Babies love to be swaddled, danced, and music. My oldest loved Motown and youngest loved hair metal ballads; he still gets sleepy when Def Leppard’s Hysteria comes on.

Skiing, don’t push it and make it all fun and never cold and miserable. Edge wedgies are gold and ski leashes are stupid.

Lastly, you and mama (and pediatrician) know what’s best. Not grandmas, not expert books, not the other moms, and certainly not me. Do whatever is best for you all and enjoy the ride.

    Cheers!

Congrats tgapp! You're gonna have a cool kid!

As above, read read read read. No screen.

Lots of face to face play involving movement and talking/ singing with kiddo.

And PATIENCE. Kiddos 'bad' actions are only a means to communicate needs/ wants.

    Congrats!!!
