    RIP Larry McMurtry

Dude wrote some amazing books that most people would have never heard of if they hadn't been turned into great movies/tv shows.

Never read his books. But his son is a talented musician

Given James lyrics I know he was influenced by his dad.

    RIP.

Truth. One of the best books I ever read. Avoided it because of the title and the cover (which made it seem like a cheesy western romance), glad I finally gave it a shot.

    RIP to an incredible writer.

I have been in the midst of rereading all 4 in the Lonesome Dove series. Part of me is bummed I waited so long but it was also a great read during covid. Thanks Larry.

Aww, that’s sad. He wrote some really good books besides Lonesome Dove, but kind of obscure in comparison. Except maybe The Last Picture Show, which is great. He was really prolific.

A really interesting dude, buddies with Ken Kesey.

Thanks to this forum, I picked up and just finished Lonesome Dove. Wow what a story. Embarrassed to say I had never heard of Larry McMurtry. List in the liner notes show he has authored like 30 books. Lonesome Dove won the Pulitzer Prize. Say no more. I will definitely pick a few more of that list.
