    Poliass in the Padded Room

Due to the ferocity, if not insanity, of this past year as well as the many concurrent calamities we all had to endure together and apart from the pandemic to the election, a considerable amount of slack was given on threads outside Poliasshat because of the interwoven nature of everything from the pandemic to the election. The Mod Team felt less stringent rules on political issues that came up in the Padded Room would hopefully allow less thread moving and deleting, as well as fewer repetitive long winded explanations and emotional overloads. The election is now over. We certainly hope the pandemic is on it's way to oblivion. Its time to go back to the old ways of the forum and corral the political rodeo back in Poliasshat for the sake of the forum and everyone on the forum.

Tomorrow, we will be moving any threads that are deemed political in nature, including the Rat Flu and America is Burning threads. This means you can all still continue reading and participating in these threads, but you will need to agree to enter an inflammatory area of asshattery and potential butthurt to see the thread.

As always, if you see a thread that appears to belong in Poliasshat, please report the thread as that is the only way to guarantee the mods see your complaint. Not reporting the thread but instead complaining in the thread may make you feel better but might not lead to any action and may in fact lead to you being ridiculed.

    Hugs and Kisses,
    Mod Team

Is this the proper thread to rant about orange man and sleepy joe?

I’ve got a lot of grievances need to air!

If I'm reading the Rat Flu thread, and it moves to Poly Ass, do I risk seeing myself in Poly Ass and creating a parallel timeline and a new reality for myself?

Misogyny and pornography are still ok.
    For now.
    Next month? Maybe not.

Even deeper, if you change something there, do you also risk alterations to your congruent, general forum account? If so, can that action be reversed by doing the opposite of what you think is correct back in poliass, or do you have to make the correction in your general timeline?

Use the "Unread" function and you get it mixed in with everything else.

Hell I still want to follow the Rat Flu thread but the TGR app is asking for a password to get into Poliass. Someone want to PM me the password?

    Honestly guys, I dunno.

Sure, America if Burning is inherently political, though it does reflect the polarized times societally.

But the main COVID19 thread, as poliass as it could get with predictable trolling and response, had some pretty good nuggets of info re: epidemiology, bench science and clinical observations, as well as good discussion and musings regarding those aspects.

In fact, I would posit that it's one of the more valuable threads in the Padded Room for that alone. More useful than the "I got vaccinated" sequel thread.

Unless all you care about is recycled pr0n you can find with a 5 second Google Search, or want to go on an on about your gun fetish or 4wd hatchbacks with stick shifts.

Sure, COVID is inextricably entwined with our culture, but it isn't entirely poliasshat, and shouldn't be confined to that realm.

And I gotta respectfully disagree that "the pandemic is on it's (sic) way to oblivion."

I agree with TriU here. That thread is inherently what the PR is and belongs here. The science, the learning and the discussion in there has been important to many of us over the last year. Keep it here.

Also in favor of keeping the rat flu thread. Going forward, if there's political posts in there, delete them or whatever you do for any other thread. Surely the long-lived GUNS!!! thread is more political (I don't read it).

Also agreed that the pandemic will be around awhile yet. I expect some ski destinations will have restrictions next season. Almost certainly the Southern hemisphere will still have a pandemic in a few months. Good luck skiing New Zealand if you don't live there.

Fair enough, but this isn’t a deletion, so those invested in the ongoing thread can continue and all those posts of value do still exist.
Nobody said we can’t bicker about politics, it’s just being placed in the correct subforum.
