I'm not vaxxed yet, but just bought tickets to a Mariners game. They are initially allowing 9,000 spectators in for each game, so that should be pretty adequate distancing in an outdoor venue. I'm pretty exicted to start doing this kind of thing again. Hopefully it's not premature.

This is a bullshit article. Kids with no vaccine are not the same as an adult with one.

She took the stats from Sara Ann Willett and bent them. Sara is way smarter than me and she is fucking bent about that article...written by an economist.

Edit to add...but I'm definitely going on vacation with my kid this summer. Just not going to pretend she is vaccinated like grandma.

Got vaxxed so where are you going?

Heading to the keys end of next week. Rented a house with a pool and a dock. Also rented a 24’ Grady for a week. Gonna snorkel, fish, drink beer, eat fresh fish ( not necessarily in that order ) First time I’ve left my little 25 mile radius in a year, can’t wait.

You don’t have to wear mask at the beach. Just indoor public places like stores and restaurants. All normal otherwise.

Fair enough. I think its obvious that kids aren't significant vectors though.

So why are all the teachers claiming it's still not safe to return to the classroom?

I've got a lot of respect for teachers, but it's not a great look when they're all clamoring to be near the top of the list for vaccinations, but then when they get them they claim they still can't be expected to return to the classroom.

I get that no one can really measure this stuff objectively. Like masks, lots of nuance.
At what point do we accept low risk behaviors? Traveling vaxxed with healthy, but potentially low emitting vectors seems acceptable to me at this point, and we can never eliminate all risk.

all teachers?....not all.....I’ve been in school/in person all year. Masks and somewhat social distancing as best we can has worked to keep us open all year.

Our district vaccinated us with Moderna 1 and 2 back in January/February......we were all very thankful to the district and the local hospital that set it all up......but we are still not traveling anywhere yet......hell, we can’t even see/visit our daughters at UVM.....

It is a bad look.....but it is not “all” teachers.

My daughter would love to go in person, but parents are keeping their kids remote so she has no choice. She does go to school and teaches remotely from her classroom though.

Depends on how you mitigate your risks. I don't know you well enough to say for sure, on the risk from this particular infx.

Ok, lemme help you out with that: the herp exists in humans and smallpox does not. Now does it matter how well I mitigate my risks?
