I'd say it's because A) we don't have Trump in our lives this year, and B) the models started out showing 60-90" so everyone paid attention early on; hype grew.

Got about 8" overnight in Littlefun and now it's snowing and swirling like a proper winter storm should. Gonna go for a run in a few and see if I can accumulate some snow in my beard.
