The best thing about TGR is that we don't have an algorithm putting the posts that get the most clicks at the top. Here, it's just linear, organic conversation. Reddit is just like all the other short attention span, ad optimized garbage social media and is pretty much unreadable.

Agreed. I hardly ever scroll past the top 10% of Reddit comments. I prefer the linear approach here.

Hey Boomers: there is a button on reddit that you can sort by time; you can even set it as a default.

It's on AOL. Mail them $37 and they'll send you a cdrom of assorted things.

I don't know about the looming software issues, but to say this place isn't bringing in the value for TGR doesn't quite make sense. I don't know their costs, obviously, but the Forums are an SEO goldmine. Any ski-related searches and they are up towards the top. I guess it matters what they do with people once they get here. But TGR probably has some of the best google juice in the outdoor industry. Reserve the right to be wrong though.

can we just occasionally all agree to click on a side bar ad to keep this place funded? Or is that not how this works

I'm quite certain that's the way it was with Powder until they ignored our needs. You a vbulletin guy, Josh?
Apparently, all previous posts have failed to inform, bennymac. The fukking backend of this place is crumbling. And not in a good way. And the people who are supposed to keep it functioning are gone and the ones who took their place can't even open the admin functions. But sure, we could all throw paper money on the fire to put it out.
