As a splitboarder who sometimes carries a whippet (for gnarly death chutes) I'd like to know more about these Leki poles. What's it take to get them off, is it a quick jerk or a long pull? Maybe we should ask Hop.

Does anyone know what it takes to get my whippet off?

How much do I get if I shred that chute switch?

An extra $37 if you take it to the road. For the record, I had already updated my signature before you posted that.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

I googled “whippet porn” and there’s a surprisingly wide selection. Start there.

Why arent Releasable poles straps the standard?

This is like throwing a nuclear bomb into an ant hill. I have a 16 yo girl myself. Skilled, unafraid, 16yo girls who have skied steep crap their entire life would be very dangerous to add to this equation. First, they would fucking shred this thing. My particular variant of this human is very comfortable at high rates of speed in very tight chutes with very high consequences, since she's been doing it since before she can remember. It's one of the reasons I've aged 25 years in the last 10. I mean fucking shred it. Second, they don't weigh much and have short skis, which makes them even more capable in steep tight stuff. Lastly, they are ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL. Brutal. I cannot stress this enough.

So all this adds up to this: if we sent out of couple of these little, young shredders I am quite confident they would rip the shit out of the run, then turn on the older men and just emotionally tear them to shreds for sucking so bad (even if they didn't suck.) They would do this until the older men cried silently to themselves in the shower later that evening.

Then they'd probably return home and light into TBS and myself for sending them to do something so easy against "stumbly, old men running into things" (direct real life quote from my daughter) that they'd probably make us cry in shame.

Do not bring 16yo girls into this. We have to have just a little kindness for each other.

Edit: just to laugh a little at all the parents of sweet little under 12 year old daughters who have no idea what’s coming. Yes Danno, talking to you.

I don’t know what is more embarrassing to witness - the filming and posting of this flat mediocre terrain - or the caption. Probably the caption. Who the fuck says shit like this?

come to stowe and school me.

What hilarious is I knew comments like this would come up, so I took video of a bunch of random people skiing the same runs for context.

Anyone skiing in Vermont today knows what the snow was like.

So, where do things sit with this challenge? No way I want to step in front of VTjoey or Mustonen, but if they are out, there’s about 10 mags in OR ready to take up the challenge of your 45* coulior of death.

And if you allow kids on this challenge, there’s a 16yo boy and a 16yo girl (spawn of maggots), and three 9yos that jonesy & I coach who would shred this 25* brush run with steeze.

And at the end one of the 9yos would say to you “We came all the way here for this? That’s a green run at Hoodoo. I can’t believe you’re an instructor.”

    On to logistics...
In an effort to be financially efficient a charter flight would be the best. Flight would depart PDX with a pickup in Bend (RDM) then on to Burlington(?). Return in reverse. We would arrive late afternoon the day before, and leave approx 5pm next day. Midweek is definitely preferred.

    We would also need:
    - ground transport between airport and $$teaux, as well as between hotel and lifts.
    - hotel for 10 adults and five kids for one night. The two 9yo boys could share a room, the two girls and the adults would need single accommodations.
    - meals for same. Figure dinner the night before, breakfast & lunch day of.
    - lift tickets

In the interest of cost, the adults will forgo their $1000/head award for skiing the Chute of Doom. The all expense paid trip and the video rights of this event will be sufficient. We can negotiate a reasonable award for the kids.

We will need to own all of the rights to video, other images, audio or written descriptions of this adventure.

With or without pole straps attached is your call but we will not double pole plant or sit in the backseat (like in your video) under any circumstances.

And we will carry our own insurance and thus not expect compensation for injury or abrasions. That brush looks like it could leave a mark...

    We await your reply.
I don’t know where it was ever thought that I stepped out, but after that sort of breakdown and thought, you sir are more then welcome to bring your band of heathens and join on this death chute ride.

That screenshot that bushy posted earlier in the thread was in fact me declining, but it was me declining to $50 and that was a lot of pages back in the gear rumor pages I believe. Had zero to do with double pole planting with releasable straps.

    Anyway. Thinking about grabbing this.

    And then heading to steaux.

I had a look at your Instagram (since you posted it). I retract my earlier comments. You don’t have an inferiority complex. I feel bad now because it’s clearly apparent that you haven’t been anywhere else before. That, in and of itself, is nothing to be ashamed of.

What you are calling steep ski and mountain bike terrain is not really that steep at all - not even if accounting for camera angles and such.

There will come a point when you have skied and biked in other places and then you will have a lot more context. That may lead to some embarrassing self reflection - related to how you are promoting yourself currently.

I’m not trying to make myself out to be some super rad expert who skis and bikes the shit out of every mountain on all continents. You are though - at least that’s how you come across in here and on YouTube and Instagram and anywhere else you are volunteering to expose yourself.

My advice, even though you are not asking for it, is to dial back all that “let me teach you how to ski the hardest and steepest shit” and just enjoy pushing your limits on your local terrain.

Umm I literally have skied 100s of different places, many in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Washington and California, as well BC, and Quebec. I probably have about 500+ days out west skiing.

I worked for 3 years at Snowbird. I even skied with Mags there, including ill advised stategy aka Yetiman. Hell I have skied with several mags in this thread here at Stowe. Although the way Smartyiak is posting I honestly regret showing him and his son any sort of kindness. The chute I posted is steeper than Great Scott or Restraunt Roll

My instagram is new IE I only started it this year. The post today was meant to troll everyone complaining about the conditions in northern vermont.

I never said any of the MTBing was steep.

    Well...since you called me out...

I have in numerous threads over the years defended you as a “nice guy” or “pretty cool” for hooking my son and I up. But seriously guy, if you can’t take a joke you can FUCK RIGHT OFF.

Check your ego at the door and quit acting like King Shit. You don’t see me acting like an arrogant dick in every single thread I post in and then complaining: man, that Josh guy doesn’t even thank me for buying him and his three friends dinner after he skied with us for a day and comped two tickets.

I cracked a joke at your expense...just like I do with my friends on a daily basis...and they do to me. Grow a skin or go back to Epic or whatever.

Sorry man, I guess I dont go around and crack jokes against my friends.

and honestly I do it again. IE hook you guys up.

but man if its obvious I might have the thickest skin of anyone here.

Honestly the OP was just a topic about poles.

People starting calling out the video and terrain, so posting facts about the terrain is apparently being king shit and arrogant? I literally try to post factual info all the time.

Sorry for not thanking you. I am on the spectrum usually mis social cues.

The honor is yours my friend. I didn't know whether Bushie was making the offer of free travel to everyone or just the first to accept. The Beaver Horde will stand down unless we get word of a charter jet headed our way. We will not make an appearance without COMPENSATION!

You would look sharp in that dolphin suit.

Look at that old mortise lockset. My wife and I lived in some 100 year old 700 sq ft shack near the beach and it had one of those doors on the bathroom and the door knob would fall off all the time when you closed it. You had to crawl into the bathtub and out the window to get out if nobody else was home.

    Damn I miss that place.
