Your fucking protractor must be broken? Did you pass grade 5 math? 45 degrees?
This "hip dragging turn" on a 12 degree run was also claimed to be 45 degrees.
You have to stop throwing "45 degrees" out there.
OR are you confused with SLOPE DEGREE vs SLOPE PERCENTAGE?
How do you convert degrees to percent?
To convert, use this angle degrees to percent of slope formula:
Percentage = [ Tan ( Degrees ) ] x 100
Example: An angle of 22.23 degrees would be:
Percentage of Slope = [ Tan ( 22.23 ) ] x 100Results:
An angle of 24.23 degrees converts to:
45.00 Percent of a Slope

Okay, fuckface, nobody in this thread other than you has said anything about "swimming in an avalanche." Poles strapped to your wrists are anchors in a slide, anchors that in the grand scheme of things are located pretty close to your airway. I can recall several avalanche reports that have noted the use of pole straps as a contributing factor in a fatal burial, including on that happened earlier this winter.
Shoulder injuries related to pole straps are even more common and well documented than them acting as anchors in an avalanche. Your ignorance is showing.
Make sure you strap your poles on extra tight from now, mkay?

yes I am calling that chute 45 degrees.
I can go back with a BCA slope meter and take pictures...
here is another video from the same chute
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxswUl5j0T4
they looks pretty rough in there. The guy in the green jacket blows up, the POV skier cant ski it, and this is generally what happens when I take people there.
This is me in the same chute with no new snow.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKY8wkJifyQ
many Mags have skied this chute and they will attest to how steep it is. If your in Vermont I ll take you right there.

it might even be steeper.
Gpetric or Thincover and whiteroom skis have all skied that chute.
ask them directly.
Again it looks less steep in my video because I actually know what I am doing.
watch these guys, the green guys get back due to his sloppy fucking arms and blows up, the POV skier cant ski it and rotates his shoulders.

Why do you have to run every thread?
Then I realized you're the OP of this thread. Sorry, so I'll say this:
You're right, why aren't releasable straps the standard.

Lol. This is such a fun topic! 45*? Ha! You call that powder?!
I learned to not use pole straps a few decades ago from a patrol friend who is now a patrol director and is a pretty damn good skier (somebody want to touch me?). I used straps all the time before then, especially when bashing bump lines for hours on end. I’ve taught my kids to not use straps. They all ski like their dad taught them and they only half listened.
Most importantly, we are all having fun.
If I’m doing the real nordic thing, I’ll use straps and show my kids how to use their straps.... I’m still debating about a lycra suit.

I’m not Sage, but I could ski that chute without falling or stopping. My arms would do weird shit too, but my arms are all over the place and I like it that way. Not that it fucking matters that I can ski that. Does it matter? Why would it matter?
And I’m 65% getting you going but 35%, seriously, you’re doing some weird stuff with your uphill arm. Even weirder than my arm stuff.
And $1k plus travel? Shut up. Why?focus.

1k plus travel, if you can ski that chute with out stopping or falling and not just sideslipping the whole thing. cereal.
I think the weird stuff in that chute both times is the trying to lift the uphill arm up to avoid touching the hill because its so steep.
I pay a 3rd party on the forum and video and let the forum decide if you could do it or not. The only thing I get out of is video of you doing it or not doing it.

Do we get the payment this year? or 11 years later, only after you get called out on TGR?

PM'd with my Star Alliance Frequent Flyer number, my seat preference and my desired departure airport.
Should I expect a BOS arrival? How is ground transportation handled, how I pack my gear depends on ground transpo.
Speaking of gear, is this "chute" acccessed from the lift, or do I need a touring setup? Skins and touring binding, or just a walk mode boot (propperly canted of course)?
Should I PM you for these details?
