Looking to take the plunge on ‘22 R106 Blacks, possibly 96. Do we have any connections or distributors who can soften the blow a good bit? Could add score on ladies 102 to make more advantageous. PM please thank you 🤙🏼

The '22 Blacks are a tall order right now. Mostly only in the hands of reps at this time. Not much in the way of availability until fall.

    Elan Ripstick 106 2021 Review

Just ordered my wife the 2020 177cm Elan RipstickW from Corbett’s.

(140-105-120)...interesting that the 177cm 102W is 105mm in the waist.

    Wife’s birthday today.....got her new Ripsticks 102W 177cm....note they measure 178cm and 105mm underfoot.

$450CDN from Corbett's for last year's (sold her Hojis for $280US so not a bad cost to switch)

    With new matching Leki poles:

A little thread drift w the Leki system but my buddy hooked me up with a set of spitfire poles and the glove adapters at the start of the season and I’ve been enjoying them a lot. It’s a light no-frills pole system with the break away attachment and the fat powder baskets make for a nice daily pole driver. Plus they’re sexy as hell.

    Elan Ripstick 106 2021 Review

Got out on the weekend on the 2021 Ripstick 106s at Whistler.

Did some fast groomers, then hiked Flute. I have Shifts on mine and my wife has Barons on hers. Skied with a buddy who teles on last years 106s.

Really really great ski on groomers. The 2021 106 rips.... as fast as you want. Feels really solid on that downhill ski. I use Dalbello Lupo HD 130s to tour, which are a pretty stiff boot and the Ripsticks weren’t overpowered.

In re-frozen rougher stuff they were surprisingly good. No deflection and good edgehold/bite in steeps. Great to skin up on, and easy to ski down in the not so light pow.

Pretty versatile ski for a day in and out of the resort.

And at the end of the day your legs aren’t thrashed like they are after a day skiing on much heavier and stiffer M102s? Might be on to something here.

Sorry. Low camera angle making them look different in size.

btw....all three skis in the pic measure exactly the same....approx 178cm straight pull...

    Same dimensions too (140-106-122).

    Left to right:

    2020 177cm Elan Ripstick 102W
    2021 180cm Elan Ripstick 106
    2020 181cm Elan Ripstick 106

We swear they came from same mold. If you stand them together they are exact same height. The 102W is also 106 underfoot. Good thing my wife can rip.

My understanding is the 96 and 106 measure similar. Same for Black Editions.

What shocked me was the 102W is the same as the men’s 180/181cm? So why call it a 177cm. Marketing I guess.

Seriously considering a 96 Black Edition too. They are that fun.

I’m mounted at +2.5cm on my 2021 106s, which is -7.2 (rec is -9.7) on the 106s. There are lines for +3cm and -3cm so big sweet spot. I think the 96 rec is a bit more forward.

Here’s another pic to mess up your OCD. Haha

Almost the same from what I remember. The 2020 was technically 181cm, but the measurement was almost identical. The Black Ed and regular were the same length.

    Side story of Ripstick lore:

I was out in Red Lodge MT. They had gotten few feet of snow in the prior two weeks, so coverage was better than average for Rock Dodge, but still thin in the "fun spots" I really wished I could have gotten into, so I spent a lot of time groomer zooming. I ran into a couple friends from MN out there, one of which was demo'ing some skis from the on-hill shop. The friend NOT demoing told me the Dan was trying out some skis, and NOT having a good day of it. He was fighting with some pretty wide ON3P's (not sure which ones), and since the snow was fairly firm, they weren't really the right tool for the job. He went back and traded those in for some narrower boards. We took another run. He came down after the two of us, obviously flustered. "I think I forgot how to ski?!?!" I happened to have the same boot size as he did, so I asked him if he wanted to take a run on my Ripstick 88's, since we had been talking gear, and he took some interest in them. TWO TURNS...that's all it took -- HUGE grin on his face. He was flat-out floored by them. His comments were that a ski so light shouldn't be able to carve like these do, and how could they have no metal in them? He said there wasn't a turn shape he couldn't coax them into, and they didn't have a speed limit (for him). I told him he could ski them, while I grabbed another pair of boards I had with from the car. By the end of the day, he was in love, and offered to buy them on the spot.

I should also mention - this is the third time I've had the nearly identical thing happen. I sold 2 pair of 96's the same way. I'll also say that the 96 is probably the most versatile of the line - the 88's are very similar dimensionally, and to my feet, the 96's are pretty much as quick as the 88's. Being a Midwesterner though, the 88's should be crazy popular here.

This RS 96 BE will probably be a 1-ski-quiver for me next year, and anyone who knows me knows how nearly impossible that is for me to do, but I'm literally that impressed with these skis.

    Haha. Good eye!

Mine are in the middle. They’re right.

But my buddy’s are on the right, he decided to ski last run with left and right skis swapped, right before I took pic. Says it feels good but he’s tele.

@ KC have you clicked into your wife's 102's? Wondering if it's the same ski, Corbetts has them priced right for USD right now

FWIW, the construction of the men's vs. women's ski is identical. Just a prettier package.

GF and I took out some 96 & w's 94 demos yesterday on a spring New England sunny day. These skis are the same width underfoot, interesting strategy on Elan's part WRT to sizing.

Impressive ski for sure, it's not a Volkl and it's not a DPS. I'd say the stability and solid feeling is closer to the Volkl end of the spectrum than the Pure DPS's shapes I've skied.

    This.

I can’t see any difference between the 2020 177cm women’s 102 and the 2020 181cm men’s 106 and the 2021 180cm men’s 106. Specs seem exact same...ski length and dimensions: tip, waist, tail etc. They came from the same mold.

Supposedly the 2021 is stiffer due to more carbon. I’ve only skied the 2021 and flex is perfect.

I’ll add some pics in a few days of the 2020 102W 177cm and 2021 106 180cm when I’m back up to Whistler.

My wife demo'ed the 162 Elan Ripstick 102 on Saturday at Aspen Highlands and really loved it.
Think it is next years (turquoise green and purple)
Funny they label the skis right and left. (asymmetrical graphics and all)
    She is coming from a 168 S7 (105mm).
