Where's Big Steve when we need insight on this?

That’s pretty cool. Figures the people ruined it.

Didn’t Jer have a pretty rad owl thread somewhere in here?

I searched...but you know how that goes.

I had a few questions for Big Steve, but since he not around maybe one of you other bird people can answer?
    1) How does that owl manage to stay so white in that filthy city?
    2) I thought owls slept all day?
    3) Wouldn't he/she just stay up in the arctic where it's warmer?

    1. Birds are clean critters. They spend a lot of time preening.
    2. Some do, some don't.
    3. ?? They follow food.

The Canadian $50 bill use to have a Snowy Owl on it. I had a group of buddies who would always bet in increments of Snowy Owls

Googling this image I just learned there are multiple Canadian Silver coins with a Snowy Owls on them.

I love stories of animals found out of place like this though.

Until BigSteve comes back we can probably speculate all we want.

Reminds me of this pelican who somehow took up residence on Lake Erie last summer.

Ohhhh...the beloved owl...silent BRINGERS OF DEATH!
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Tried as well, maybe he hid it in polyass?

Anyway, after several pages of debate I think it was concluded that owls are the most metal of the birds of prey.

Neat. I can imagine their style of fishing would not be possible on an ice covered lake?

Now if we can just get the Lombardi trophy to land somewhere on Lake Erie.

Yeah, I have to assume that the pelican got forced south again once the weather turned.

Maybe when he comes back this summer he can bring the trophy with him from Tampa.

Looks like snowy owls aren’t the only surprising animal popping up in Central Park

Looking around like he owns the place. Meanwhile the poor crow is just working to scratch out a living.

Close. There's about 2 feet of snow around here, and somehow Central Park has none?

I would never argue about the legitimacy of something in the NY Times. Perhaps someone just grabbed the wrong stock photo?
