I still hang out with my old friends and we still have a freaking blast. Hell, I laugh harder now than I ever did when partying with them. Skied with some old college buddies this weekend. Even watched the Super Bowl with a bunch of guys pounding beers and eating molly. Once people start to get sloppy, I say my goodbyes and head to bed. No big deal. Still a super fun time.
I also have a crew of friends who are totally sober like me. We were 4 deep hiking ridge laps the other day. Having a blast. Shredding pow. Totally present. Probably would have never found those guys if it wasn't for meetings.

Get a plan and plan more about plans. Don’t be idle and keep busy
Out of sight out of tempted mind
Get a sponsor buddy someone to help and ask how your doing and who will hold you accountable
Control what you can
Accept what you can’t control
And get wisdom advice on e difference
PM me if you want to discuss. I got sober almost 20 years ago and have led sobriety groups.
Stay strong!
Sent from my iPhone using TGR ForumsI need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Hello. I have been making some forward progress at life.
But this afternoon I am drunk on cheap red wine.
Fire going, nice and warm cat on my lap. Belly full.

I'm celebrating 10 years today!
MTT, today is indeed a new day. Do something differently today if you don't want to repeat yesterday.

He's. So I fell asleep woke up at 3 am been up since.
Interesting I did nothing wrong. It felt good to kinda check out for the evening
But I feel guilty about it because I an not supposed to do that anymore.
I somehow felt the need to tell on myself here?
I guess I am just keeping it real.
Slippery slope to buying a bottle of whiskey.
But really just thinking about it makes me I'll.Own your fail. ~Jer~

Thanks dudes!
Yes, I do mostly zoom meetings, but the occasional in person meeting and meet up with my sponsor every week for coffee. We shoot the shit, talk about life, our shortcomings, our relationships, some book stuff, talk a lot about hunting haha. We are planning an eastern MT spring turkey hunt with some other sober dudes.
Can't recommend the sponsor/mentor thing enough. If you don't want to do AA that's cool too. Just do whatever gets you to freedom and longterm contented sobriety.

Zooms are ok. Better than nothing, but haven’t gone back to in person. I am grateful I am on stable ground. Being new this past year might have been just a tad more challenging, but if one is willing, there are people ready to help someway...all over the world.

very glad to hear it, willy, and happy belated birthday!
my first sponsor was an old timer. 50 years or something like that. he was my dads rehab counselor and sponsor at one point back in the 80s. always talkin bout some random bullshit with the occasional brilliant insight. sponsor after him wasn't so great. really weird dude. ex-con desert storm vet who loved to talk about his days in "unlicensed pharmaceutical sales". we met for coffee and worked the steps and all that but i never felt like i trusted either of them so i never got very far.
things are different now. got a great "sponsor" so to speak that i talk with most days of the week. no real step work but knowing that i have someone looking out for me and with my best interest in mind is a pretty beautiful thing. WG is right; the impact of having a fellow struggler to talk with is immense.swing your fucking sword.
