Still have all that gear and cleaned it up last summer for a friend's kid to use. If you're interested, I'd be happy to pass it along to help get another CO girl on the water. I'm in Denver. PM me if you're interested.
That’s awesome. So she was able to learn to manage the line ok? I’m worried I’m going to run into nonstop meltdowns

    What did it do?
    The canister exploded?
    Or it launched into someone?
Looks like a huge contusion with smaller cuts...

It was super cold out in the morning, we’d put the jetboil in a pan of water on another stove to warm up the canister. It may have been on for a bit too long. A buddy of ours walked over and turned off the propane stove heating the water. As soon as he turned the stove off the jetboil exploded, it wasn’t a flame type explosion, more of superheated compressed gas.

It threw the cup portion of the jetboil into T’s shoulder, knocking him to the ground like he’d been hit by a truck. The burner and remnants of the canister shot at least 50’ in the air. I’m guessing that finned section hit him near the armpit and caused the cuts, that distinct line on his bruise on the bicep is from the top of the cup.

It could’ve been a lot worse, if it had hit him in the head I’m not sure what would’ve happened. We were a long freaking ways from any type of hospital.

    Be careful heating those canisters.

Fuck, that looks and sounds brutal.

Somewhat related, our bellmen use air horns (horn attached to aerosol can) to signal loads on the crane. This morning, one of them had a defective horn and thought it would be a good idea to warm it up in the exhaust of one of the ground heaters. He literally put the can inside the exhaust and walked way.. A few minutes later there was a bang and puff of black smoke out of the exhaust. Everyone thought it was a backfire, then a couple seconds later the remnants of the horn landed next to the superintendent’s feet.

    anyway, back to the fishing

My daughter has never fished w/ anything but a fly rod. Pick an easy spot, (panfish, mountain lake, open creek, etc.), clear back casting space, etc. Don’t fish yourself. It’s about her.
Obviously managing the line is easier on still water, but we liked mountain creeks, because there’s more fish just upstream over the next rock.
Maybe she’ll hate it. Who knows.

Someone already lost a Hyde up on A. Mellow water. I'm sure RC will eat a few also. Going to be a rough season on the fish as well.

Any word on the annual flush? I would assume that's still on.

    Nice L8.

Not a fish, but spooled up the new reel/rod with a fresh line and gave old faithful a fresh one as well. The 1093 Contact II and G2 884 compliment each other very well and make a great pair of wading sticks for the Fork and Pan.

L8, that is a nice fish.
Gretch, I have an original Loop Dryly, (so it must be 25+ years old), and I still love it. I will replace it with the Dannielsson version. (I have a brookie as well, so you must be a stalker.)

There is no substitute for good taste!

Great to hear the reel is holding up. The price on the Danielsson is tough to beat. I think it was only $168 and came super fast. I am tempted to move the Brookie to my 3wt 7'6" F-Series rod and pickup another Danielsson for the G2.

I think I will do the same or similar. I fished 2 days last fall using only the Brookie on my 3 wt., and I like it, but I want just slightly more resistance, and I have it set for maximum click. I have no such problem w/ the Dryfly, I think because of the continuous tension adjust. Action photo from last fall on rhymes-with-jock creek:

Great stuff. The “midge” version weighs in at 90g...so very close to the 3-4 brookie.

Took advantage of a nice weather window and posted up on of my favorite streams. Some random pics.

My wife joined for a day and she got into 'em pretty good.

    sneak in - sneak out

With water temps creeping up I figured streamer fishing would be getting better. Unfortunately nothing to show for it other than a box of flies.

    coffee with the locals

I love baseball and have my satellite internet system dialed so I can watch games now. Nothing better than first pitch after a day of fishing sitting by a river.

Shit's about to start happening around here and the mobile fish camp is dialed.

F-ing Justin Timberlake... d00d follows me everywhere. I ski in Big Sky and he’s on the chair with me. So I come to Hayward WI for some peace and quiet and he shows up with Wisconsin’s governor for the official Fishing Opener today.

Was going to hookup with Yetiman/IAS over in the UP this weekend but he had to work a Saturday afternoon shift.

Muskys here eat entire houses and subdivisions, like Godzilla. They sell 11-foot, one-piece, 12-weight rods for these bad mofos. I need to upgrade my steeze so I can post some stoke. My 8-wt would snap like a twig.

Yetiman bought a badass new (to him) motorcycle ! Once it stops raining in the UP he will be picking black flies out of his teeth.

St Croix had quit making fly rods a few years ago, but they realized that was no bueno and are back to making them again. I bought that one in Gear Swap from bozo mag sledski, and I love it. Just as good, if not better than, my $$$ Sage rod. I was driving by their factory in Park Falls WI and happened to be wearing my Huge flat brim.

Made in US of FKNA Fly Rods !
