    Diy free standing ski rack

Has anyone made a rack like this?

I'm not about to pay that kinda $ for a ski rack. That large diameter pvc does make even the diy price go up pretty quick.

Does it have to be pvc? Maybe just use wood to frame out square spots for the skis?

I made a couple like that out of 1x6s. They work fine and allow skis to occupy open space in the middle of the shop rather than taking up limited wall space that is occupied by shelves, bike storage, doors and benches.

Did you use pvc for the actual ski storage part?

I'm in the same boat, thinking of buying this if I can't come up with a good DIY design https://www.storeyourboard.com/frees...=category_page

way cheaper than the one you linked but also way uglier

Wood, PVC, whatever ... It serves the same function.

Key to this type of stand would be how tippy it would be.

I expect you'd need some form of outrigger on the base to widen the footprint, especially if you were to locate it somewhere someone might bump into it.

Maybe make it two skis deep?

[edit]I checked the site. Looks like most of them do have a wider footprint.

Jeeze! Prices for the 0.1 percent!
